College football fans lament the lack of a playoff system but, since it isn’t presently in the cards, the current system will have to do. That’s why we’re left evaluating BCS Championship odds.
Prior to the BCS Championship game there were four major bowls, and each year one of the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl or Orange bowl was tabbed as the national championship on an annual basis. But because of the confusion, the BCS added one final championship game to be the bowl of all bowls.
In BCS Championship betting, the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the BCS poll square off. There is often controversy about the rankings in the BCS but, regardless, whoever finishes atop the standings plays in the game. The winner is then tabbed as the college football National Champion.
The best BCS Championship Game to date was the 2005 version, when the USC Trojans owned a seven-point advantage in the BCS Championship spread. But the Texas Longhorns mustered an improbable comeback and won the game on a last-second touchdown scramble by quarterback Vince Young.
While 2009 BCS Championship odds are supposed to pit two equal teams together so that online sports betting sharps can bet on what is supposed to be an even game, the results haven’t indicated that.
The SEC is 4-0 in the BCS Championship game while the Big East, ACC and Big Ten are 1-2. Also, the margin of victory by the winning team has been 15.5 points through the first 10 BCS Championship game.
Although some people might looking at the BCS Championship Game line knowing that the final game isn’t a playoff finale, it still provides plenty of excitement for betting purposes. Considering how wide open college football has become, 2009 BCS Championship betting should offer another exciting game.
