Get an edge for your baseball picks the Bettor's Edge MLB Power Rankings. Our weekly rankings will let you know what teams are a good bet to rack up some wins.
All statistics as of Sunday, June 22:
1.Chicago Cubs – A weekend sweep of the crosstown White Sox got the Cubs back on track after a thre-game losing streak to the Rays. Heading into Tuesday's action, the Cubbies are playing .730 baseball since late May.
2.Boston Red Sox – Two straight losses to the Cardinals couldn't have taken some steam out of the engine, but the Red Sox bounced back with a 13-inning win on Sunday. J.D. Drew is playing brilliant in David Ortiz's stead, clubbing 10 homers and 22 RBIs in June.
3.Minnesota Twins – Minny cranked it up a notch last week, ripping off six straight wins and climbing 1.5 games back of Chicago in the AL Central as of Monday. The pitching was unconscious during that stretch, giving up just 13 runs.
4.Los Angeles Angels – A three-game winning streak against the Phillies?of the NL's best?the Angels in a groove. L.A. gave up just five runs in that weekend series. The offense came through with 16 runs.
5.New York Yankees – Slowed by a couple of weekend losses to the Reds, but New York has won eight of its last 10. Can they keep it going with a banged up rotation, especially now that Chien-Ming Wang is out for the foreseeable future?
Teams to watch:
Tampa Bay Rays – We're nearly at the midway point and they're still contending for the AL division crown. Does Tampa have the legs to keep it going?
Detroit Tigers – With a 12-3 record in their last 15 games, are the Tigers finally the team everyone expected in 2008?
Milwaukee Brewers – The Brew Crew has quietly won six of seven while swing some mean bats over the last week or so, scoring 39 runs during that stretch.
