  • WHO: Arizona Cardinals vs Philadelphia Eagles (-3)
  • WHAT: NFL football betting action
  • WHEN: Thursday, November 27, 8:15 PM ET
  • WHERE: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
  • KEY STATS: Arizona has won six of their last 10 against Philadelphia
  • PICK: Arizona

Philadelphia has not been kind to NFL betting players lately, losing their last three games ATS, but they will have a big chance to redeem themselves in the NFL’s annual Thanksgiving schedule of games. Philadelphia will host NFC West leaders Arizona as a 3-point NFL betting favorite in your online sportsbook, but after last week’s fiasco in Baltimore, sports wagering players will definitely be weary of making the Eagles one of their NFL picks.

One bad defensive quarter was all it took to send Arizona to a 37-29 loss at home to the New York Giants, as the Cardinals (7-4) were outscored 17-9 in the second stanza. Kurt Warner was 32-of-52 for 351 yards and a touchdown, along with a pick which was one of a pair of turnovers committed by the Cardinals, who definitely showed they were for real with their valiant effort against the defending Super Bowl champions. The Cardinals gave up on a running game, gaining only 23 yards on 15 carries on the day, which put a lot of pressure on Warner, who responded with his fifth straight game with 300 passing yards or more.

Donovan McNabb was benched for the first time in his 11-year career as the Eagles (5-5) were thrashed 36-7 in Baltimore, as he was only 8-of-18 for 59 yards with two picks and a fumble, making it seven turnovers in his last seven quarters of action. However, this loss cannot all be pinned on McNabb, as the Eagles had five turnovers in total, and the defense collapsed late, giving up 24 points in the last quarter with Philadelphia still in the game.

STAN’S PICK: Cardinals vs Eagles odds have given Philadelphia a 3-point betting edge at home, but Arizona has won six of their last 10 against the Eagles, including three of their last five trips to Philadelphia. The Eagles will have to put last week behind them, and the defensive lapse should be attributed to McNabb’s benching, which was sure to send shockwaves throughout the entire team. Philadelphia’s defense is much better than that, as proven by their sixth-place ranking in the NFL. Arizona are 1-2 in three games against the NFC East this season, beating Dallas but playing well in losses to Washington and the Giants. Due to Philadelphia’s in-team troubles (McNabb’s struggles, Andy Reid being faced with questions about job security), bet on the Arizona Cardinals to pile more pressure on the Eagles with a win on Thanksgiving Thursday.

Stan Simmons first tasted football through the college game, but his football handicapping has strictly focused on the professional sport. Not many people devote as much time to the NFL as Simmons. For six days a week he works, labors and handicaps the sport, and on the seventh he rests as the games play out. Thoughts or questions? Email Comments@BetOnline.com
