Alabama vs LSU picks are going to be leaning on the Alabama side of things, especially since the Crimson Tide are the No. 1 team in the nation, but sports book users should be cautious: LSU plays pretty well at home.
LSU has won 18 of its last 20 home games and is definitely not a pushover. But online betting sharps know that LSU is still stinging from its blowout loss at the hands of Florida.
LSU is two games behind Alabama in the SEC West, which all but puts the SEC Championship game and BCS out of reach. But LSU still has plenty to play for, including the return of former head coach Nick Saban, who now leads Alabama, and for the opportunity to ruin Alabama’s perfect season.
Those evaluating Alabama vs LSU odds should be weary that Alabama has been fading somewhat against quality opponents. It did dispose of Tennessee and Arkansas State rather easily but Alabama has close calls against Ole Miss and Kentucky.
Sportsbook bettors will remember that the last time Alabama was on the road in a big game it routed Georgia, but going undefeated in the SEC rarely happens. For Alabama, this might be its last real test before the SEC Championship game.
“Saint Nick” lost the first time he faced his former squad, a 41-34 defeat in Tuscaloosa last year. Alabama is going to be in for a dog fight but they’re the better team on both sides of the ball.
BLAKE’S PICK: Two stats jump out when evaluating the Alabama vs LSU odds: Alabama is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight games at LSU, and LSU is just 1-3 in its last four contests as a home underdog of three points or less.
Alabama should win this game. The Crimson Tide has more on the line and, more importantly, is the better team all-around. Bet on Alabama.
