BYU vs Utah picks were supposed to be picks that determined first and second place in the Mountain West conference, and the game was meant to serve as somewhat of a Championship contest.
But those who bet on sports know BYU hasn’t held up its end of the bargain. BYU was crushed by TCU earlier this season and that single loss will keep it out of the Bowl Championship Series. Now, BYU is hoping to do the same to Utah.
Online sports betting sharps know BYU has a tall task in front of it; since its loss to TCU it’s been heading downhill even though its record is still pretty at 10-1.
BYU barely hung on to beat UNLV, needing a last-second end zone interception to get by. It then squeaked by Colorado State with a go-ahead touchdown with 29 seconds remaining and had a pair of shaky performances against San Diego State and Air Force.
BYU vs Utah odds list Utah as nearly a touchdown favorite in their regular season finale and it’s hard to argue with the number.
BYU has won by an average of 30.5 points at home vs. 9.5 at home, meaning it’s been cutting it much closer on the road. Utah’s defense ranks 11th in the country and BYU has shown, as in the TCU game, that it struggles against quality defenses.
If you’re BYU vs Utah betting, be aware that these two teams employ differing strategies. Utah was up big on San Diego State and was able to rest most of its starters for the fourth quarter while BYU was in more of a dogfight and had to stay sharp until the end. That should benefit Utah since it should be fresher for their upcoming contest.
BLAKE’S PICK: This is a revenge game for Utah. For the last two seasons, it has lost on last-minute scores to BYU. Utah is the better team and, although BYU knows how to beat it, it won’t get the job done this time around. If you’re going after the BYU vs Utah spread, bet on Utah.
