THE PICK: Georgia
The SEC continues to bring us amazing college football contests and for sports bettors, the Alabama vs. Georgia lines are very intriguing.
Alabama currently sits as a 6.5-point underdog as it heads on the road for its second consecutive SEC contest. Last weekend, ’Bama beat Arkansas handily, which has it in good shape for what will be a very rugged contest.
For the Alabama vs. Georgia betting line, be aware this spread is as high as it is because Georgia was expected to be a National Championship contender but Alabama was not (prior to the season). Realistically, there might not be a whole lot separating these two teams except for home field advantage, but the public’s perception of the two teams is what has inflated the online sports book odds.
Georgia has done everything it has been asked but still isn’t included in the same conversation as Oklahoma and USC. A convincing win over Alabama would change that. Georgia has had a much tougher schedule so far but hasn’t had emphatic wins like USC and Oklahoma.
The Bulldogs are very battle tested heading into this contest after travelling to South Carolina and Arizona State in back-to-back weeks. Georgia has already faced a number of different types of opponents, from offensive juggernauts to defensive programs, and come away victorious. Alabama is the best overall team Georgia has yet to face but the Bulldogs have already seen everything Alabama can throw their way.
Keep an eye on Georgia’s offensive line, as it’s the one area where the Crimson Tide seem to have an edge. Alabama pushed around Clemson in an early season contest and grinded the Tigers into the ground with its running game.
BLAKE’S PICK: As long as Georgia keeps its focus and avoids mistakes, it’s the more talented team and should cover the Alabama vs. Georgia spread.
