PICK: Texas Tech
It’s been a crazy NCAA football betting season to say the very least, and now the Big 12 standings are looking a little strange. Last week, Texas Tech pulled off what Oklahoma State nearly did two weeks ago—upset then-No. 1 Texas.
The Red Raiders and the Cowboys aren’t exactly annual conference favorites, usually settling for mid-tier bowl games and a .500 record within the Big 12. But this is 2008, and these two run n’ gun squads are defying NCAA football odds. This week, the two surprise teams of the year meet up in a clash that will have huge BCS implications.
While it will be difficult for Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech betting to live up to the excitement the Red Raiders and Longhorns provided last week, it will certainly come close. Anyone who witnessed last Saturday’s duel knows how explosive the Texas Tech offense can be.
Quarterback Graham Harrell orchestrated a last-minute drive, culminating in a 28-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree to win the game 39-33. In making the spectacular catch through double coverage, Crabtree twisted his ankle and is listed as probable for this week—a key factor in Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech odds. Half of Harrell’s 30 touchdown passes have gone to Crabtree, while power running back Shannon Woods has rushed for another ten.
If there’s one offense that is capable of going toe-to-toe with Texas Tech, it belongs to Oklahoma State. Three quarters of pivot Zach Robinson’s twenty touchdown passes have gone to sophomore wideout Dez Bryant. The 6’2” receiver went ballistic last week against Iowa State, with four majors and 171 yards in the 52-17 rout of the Cyclones.
The Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech line favors the Red Raiders thanks to another stellar defensive effort last week. Texas Tech continues putting up huge sack totals week after week, including another four on Texas quarterback Colt McCoy last week.
However, the advantage in the running department goes to Oklahoma State, led by Kendall Hunter’s 11 touchdowns and his trusty blockers, Bryant Ward and Brandon Pettigrew. Fans will remember the latter as the tight end who scored the touchdown to win the game and cover the Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech spread in last season’s meeting.
BLAKE’S PICK: Sports betting sharps will be evaluating this NCAA football betting line all week, and the general consensus should be to bet on the Red Raiders. After beating the No. 1 team in the nation Texas Tech is riding plenty of momentum
If last year’s 49-45 shootout is any indication, it’ll be a close one. Bet on Texas Tech.
