The second half of the NFL betting season is about to kick off, and online sports betting fans will be going over their sportsbook odds looking for a betting edge on the gridiron. This week features a massive tilt in the ultra-tight NFC East, as the division-leading New York Giants head to Philadelphia for a battle with the Eagles. Giants vs Eagles odds give a very small edge to the hometown team.

The Giants (7-1) took advantage of a slumping Dallas offense to pound the Cowboys 35-14 at home last week, forcing four turnovers while holding Dallas to 183 yards of offense. New York overcame a sloppy performance from Eli Manning, who was 16-of-27 for 147 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw a pick that was returned for a score and lost a pair of fumbles.

Brandon Jacobs ran for 117 yards and a major, but the New York defense were the real star of the day, showing why it ranks second in the league against the pass. Dallas quarterbacks Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger combined to go 14-of-27 for only 102 yards and three picks. When New York sees these Giants vs Eagles odds listing it as an underdog, it could be motivated for an even better day.

The Eagles’ Donovan McNabb had his best game since Week 1 in a 26-7 thumping of Seattle on the road, as the five-time Pro Bowler was 28-of-43 for 349 yards and two touchdowns (and an interception). Tight end Brent Celek had a career day, hauling in six passes for 131 yards.

The Eagles (5-3) were superior on both sides of the line of scrimmage, holding the ball for over 37 minutes and wearing the Seattle defense down. Seattle managed just 233 yards on offense and, after allowing a 90-yard touchdown early in the first quarter, the Philly defense pulled up its sleeves and shut the Seahawks down.

STAN’S PICK: The Giants vs Eagles spread has Philadelphia as a 2.5-point favorite at home, and these two teams have split their last 10 meetings. However, the Giants have won the last two, including a late-season victory in Philadelphia. Last year in a Week 4 win the Giants sacked McNabb an NFL record-tying 12 times, and he’s averaged only 182.9 yards in 14 career meetings with the Giants.

Manning can’t mistakes like he did against Dallas, especially on the road. NFL betting has this match-up pegged correctly as a close game, as two of the last three have been decided by a field goal. In another close battle, bet on the Philadelphia Eagles to hand the Giants their first NFC loss and tighten the race in the East.
