The stakes are about as high as they can get in NCAA football betting action this weekend, as the Rose Bowl berth for the Pac-10 will be up for grabs in the 112th edition of Oregon’s “Civil War”. Oregon vs Oregon State odds in your online sportsbook are favoring the Ducks, who are aiming for their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1965.
The No. 23 Ducks (8-3) and their 11th-ranked offense stormed out to a 45-17 halftime lead in their last game, though they had to hold on tight for a 55-45 shootout win over Arizona. Jeremiah Masoli was a one-man wrecking crew, going 21-of-26 for 298 yards and two touchdowns, and he also added 89 yards and three scores on the ground for the Ducks.
The Ducks racked up big plays, but they didn’t posses the football very long—only 18 minutes—and it showed when the defense sagged. The Ducks have not been kind to those who bet on sports lately, going 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games.
Coincidentally, the No. 17 Beavers’ (8-3) last game was also against Arizona, when they beat the Wildcats 19-17 on the road last weekend thanks to a last-second 24-yard field goal by Justin Kahut, who had missed a game-tying PAT just minutes earlier.
The Oregon State defense, ranked 13th in the nation, did its job by holding the high-scoring Wildcats to 17 points on 297 yards, but the 29th-ranked offense sputtered. Sean Canfield was 20-of-32 for 224 yards and a touchdown, while James Rodgers added 102 rushing yards and a major for the Beavers, who sportsbook players should love as they are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Oregon vs Oregon State odds have the Ducks as a three-point NCAA football betting favorite in this bitter rivalry, which kicked off in 1897. The Beavers have won six of their last 10 meetings with the Ducks, including a 38-31 double-overtime thriller at Oregon in 2007. The last six meetings between these two have gone OVER the NCAA football betting total, and it’s a good bet they will again as both offenses rank in the Top-30 in total offense. Oregon had a week off to prepare for this game, but late in the season that doesn’t really matter.
BLAKE’S PICK: If Oregon State can control Oregon’s sixth-ranked rushing attack, it could be a messy Civil War for the Ducks. Bet on the Oregon State Beavers to smell like roses with a win over their state rivals.
