Packers vs. Buccaneers odds – Bucs, Pack square off in “Battle of the Bays”

  • WHO: Green Bay Packers (+1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1)
  • WHAT: NFL football
  • WHEN: Sunday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m. ET
  • WHERE: Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida
  • KEY STATS: Green Bay has lost five of its last six visits to Tampa Bay
  • PICK:  Green Bay

A pair of 2-1 teams take the field at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon, when the Green Bay Packers visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a battle of top NFC contenders. Packers vs. Buccaneers lines give the nod to the home team, but there’s not much separating these teams according to online sportsbook odds.

The Packers had no answer for the Dallas ground game on Sunday night, allowing 217 rushing yards in a 27-16 loss to the Cowboys. Green Bay managed only 84 itself, and Ryan Grant’s slow start to the season continued with 54 rushing yards.

Aaron Rodgers had another solid outing by going 22-of-39 for 290 yards, but the Green Bay offense failed miserably on third down, converting only four of 14 attempts.

Brian Griese was all over the place in Tampa Bay’s 27-24 overtime win in Chicago, as he threw for 407 yards and two touchdowns. He was also was picked off three times and went 38-of-67 overall.

The Bucs scored 10 points in the final 3:11 of regulation to send the game to overtime and, while they made a ton of mistakes in this game (four turnovers, six penalties, 158 rushing yards allowed), Tampa Bay managed to come away with the all-important victory.

STAN’S PICK: Packers vs. Buccaneers lines have Tampa Bay as a slim one-point favorite at home, but the Bucs have won five of their last six when hosting Green Bay.

This Packers vs. Buccaneers spread could be due to the Griese’s inconsistency—he can light it up or stink up the field, all in one half. The Tampa Bay defense hasn’t been all that great against the run, so this could be the game that Grant breaks out for the Packers, assuming he’s healthy.

Bet on the Green Bay Packers to come away with the victory as a slight road underdog.
