PICK: Florida
Sports book odds list the Florida Gators as a huge 21-point favorite against South Carolina in what has been a very one-sided rivalry. If you’re a smart person who is betting on sports, you know that one of the key statistics to check is the series history. Florida has won 15 of the last 16 games in this series and all eight of the last meetings in Florida.
Those who follow online sports betting know Florida is on an absolute roll. The Gators are on a collision course with Alabama in the SEC Championship but most bettors just assume that Florida will be heading to the BCS Championship after they dispose of No. 1 ranked Alabama.
Florida might not be ranked No. 1 in the nation right now but many online sports betting sharps and sportsbook linesmakers believe that it’s just a formality. They are playing as well as anyone – if not better – in all of college football.
Florida hasn’t scored less than 26 points in any game this season while South Carolina’s season-high in a game is 34 points. Although the SEC is supposed to be tough and rugged, Florida has won its last five games by an average of 37.5 points.
South Carolina vs Florida picks will be heavily one-sided. Florida will be expected to roll and, given the way it has manhandled South Carolina recently, the angle of Steve Spurrier coming back home isn’t even much of a storyline anymore.
But when you are evaluating the South Carolina vs Florida spread don’t underestimate South Carolina. It, too, has been hot of late and has won six of its last seven games.
The problem for South Carolina will be scoring points. Those who bet sports know South Carolina’s quarterback situation – whether it is Chris Smelley or Stephen Garcia taken snaps – is pretty ugly. Both quarterbacks are erratic and inconsistent.
BLAKE’S PICK: On the flipside, Florida is led by Tim Tebow, who has simply been outstanding. Look for another big Florida win this weekend. The Gators will win the game easily and move one step closer to playing in the BCS Championship game.
