Tennessee vs. Auburn odds – Both teams looking to rebound from losses

  • WHO: Tennessee Volunteers (+6.5) at No.15 Auburn Tigers (-6.5)
  • WHAT: NCAA football
  • WHEN: Saturday, September 27, 3:30 p.m. ET
  • WHERE: Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama
  • KEY STATS:  Auburn has won its last two meetings with Tennessee
  • PICK: Auburn

The Tigers’ BCS and SEC Championship odds took a big hit last weekend when it lost a second-half lead to LSU. Still, they’re favored in this week’s Tennessee vs. Auburn lines when they host the Volunteers at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Volunteers committed three turnovers in a 30-6 loss at home to Florida, failing to get on the scoreboard until just into the fourth quarter. Tennessee was expected to at least cover the spread against the Gators and give Florida a game, but it made far too many mistakes between turnovers and penalties.

Jonathan Crompton was 18-of-28 for 162 yards and a pick but, with no running game, the Volunteers were dead in the water. His poor play is a big reason why Tennessee vs. Auburn betting will go in Auburn’s favor.

The Tigers punctuated a solid first half with an interception return for a touchdown against LSU, but a 14-0 third quarter swung the momentum towards the road team, and Auburn fell 26-21.

Chris Todd went 17-of-32 for 250 yards and a touchdown, but a pair of interceptions hurt the Tigers. Also, a lack of run defense was a big culprit in Auburn’s loss, as it allowed LSU to run for 178 yards while gaining only 70 itself.

Some football betting observers were surprised to see Auburn as an underdog given that the home team had won the last eight meetings between Auburn and LSU, but that’s how close the powerful SEC conference is this year.

BLAKE’S PICK: Tennessee vs. Auburn betting lines have the Tigers as 6.5-point favorites at home this week, and this is a favorable line as Auburn should come out with plenty of fire. These two have split their last six meetings, but Auburn swept Tennessee in a pair of games in 2004.

The Volunteers will want to give a better account of themselves after their whipping at the hands of Florida, but the Tigers will be hungrier. Tennessee vs. Auburn odds favor the Tigers, and rightfully so.
