The “Red River Rivalry” has been one of the most fiercely contested battles since 1900, and this is the first time since 2004 that both the Longhorns (5-0) and Sooners (5-0) have been ranked in the top-five ahead of their annual clash.
The Texas vs Oklahoma betting rivalry resumes on Saturday when they meet at the Cotton Bowl in a matchup that will surely draw lots of action from the online sportsbook community. The Texas vs Oklahoma line gives the edge to the Sooners at home, but Texas will be eager to avenge last season’s loss to Oklahoma.
The Longhorns amassed 431 yards of offense in a 38-14 romp over Colorado on the road, led by another solid game from Colt McCoy, who was 23-of-30 for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns. McCoy also had two picks, bringing his season total to only three, and the junior pivot has now completed 79.2% of his passes this season.
Chris Ogbonnaya destroyed Colorado from the backfield, racking up 71 yards and a score on the ground, as well as 116 receiving yards and another touchdown.
The Sooners raced out to a 28-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 49-17 rout at Baylor, as Sam Bradford led Oklahoma to 594 yards of offense. The sophomore quarterback continued lighting it up by going 23-of-31 for 372 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.
Bradford also got a huge hand from a running game that racked up 217 yards, led by Demarco Murray’s 96 yards. If there was a negative in this dominant performance, it was allowing Baylor to rush for 194 yards.
BLAKE’S PICK: The Texas vs Oklahoma line is giving the Sooners a seven-point spread as the “home team” for this neutral-site affair, and they’ve won six of their last 10 meetings with the Longhorns. Three of the last four games between these two have gone UNDER the posted total but, with McCoy and Bradford at the helm, bettors can expect a lot of points on the board.
Oklahoma has a slight edge on defense, and it should be enough to steer it to victory, but Texas has more than enough weapons to keep it close and deny Oklahoma the opportunity to cover the spread. Bet on the Texas Longhorns in your Texas vs Oklahoma pick.
