Enjoy this brief breakdown of the week’s NFL action:
Sunday games
Detroit Lions (-1) at Atlanta Falcons (+1), 1:00 p.m. ET
Detroit is bad. Atlanta is a hell of a lot worse. Take: Falcons odds
Cincinnati Bengals (+1) at Baltimore Ravens (-1), 1:00 p.m. ET
Rookie Joe Flacco will start for Baltimore, and his backs are banged up. Carson Palmer is a safer bet.
Take:
Bengals odds
Kansas City Chiefs (+14.5) at New England Patriots (-14.5), 1:00 p.m. ET
How is Tom Brady’s foot? No worries, he could torch the Chiefs at home on one leg. Probably with one arm. Take:
Patriots odds
St. Louis Rams (+7) at Philadelphia Eagles (-7), 1:00 p.m. ET
With Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook still healthy, Rams have no shot at slowing down Philly.
Take:
Eagles odds
Houston Texans (+7) at Pittsburgh Steelers (-7), 1:00 p.m. ET
Texans are a better team than people give them credit for, and quarterback Matt Schaub wants to have a big season.
Take:
Texans odds
Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) at Tennessee Titans (+3), 1:00 p.m. ET
Is Vince Young ready to make The Leap? I’ll believe it when I see it.
Take:
Jaguars odds
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) at New Orleans Saints (-3), 1:00 p.m. ET
Hurricane Gustav has disrupted the Saints’ routine. I like them this year, but not in this one.
Take:
Buccs odds
New York Jets (-2.5) at Miami Dolphins (+2.5), 1:00 p.m. ET
Brett Favre versus Chad Pennington. Yeah, Chad’s out for revenge, but I still won’t be against the old gunslinger.
Take:
Jets odds
Dallas Cowboys (-3) at Cleveland Browns (+3), 4:15 p.m. ET
Tony Romo and Terrell Owens will destroy brutal Browns secondary.
Take:
Cowboys odds
Arizona Cardinals (-2.5) at San Francisco 49ers (+2.5), 4:15 p.m. ET
Niners look like a mess this season. Maybe Frank Gore can save the season. Alright, probably not. Take:
Cardinals odds
Carolina Panthers (+9.5) at San Diego Chargers (-9.5), 4:15 p.m. ET
That spread seems crazy. Chargers get the win, but Panthers will make them work for it.
Take:
Panthers odds
Chicago Bears (+9.5) at Indianapolis Colts (-9.5), 4:15 p.m. ET
Bears defense will torment Peyton Manning and his gimpy knee, but Colts defense will be even harder on Kyle Orton.
Take:
Colts odds
Monday games
Minnesota Vikings (+3) at Green Bay Packers (-3), 7:00 p.m. ET
Aaron Rogers makes his debut on Monday night. That’s a little too much pressure for the kid.
Take:
Vikings odds
Denver Broncos (-1) at Oakland Raiders (+1), 10:15 p.m. ET
Will be fun to watch Jamarcus Russell, but he won’t have the support he needs to get it done.

Broncos odds
