How to Play Baccarat
How to play Baccarat:
The goal of baccarat is to correctly predict if the banker's or player's hand will have the highest total, or if there will be a tie. Before the cards are dealt, you have three options: place a bet on the player, the banker or a tie. You and the banker are then each dealt two cards. If you predicted correctly, you win the bet.
The total of the cards can only be from zero to nine; 10 and the face cards (jacks, queens and kings) count as zero. If a third card must be drawn and the total surpasses nine, the first number is dropped and the second number is used as the total--i.e. 14 would be counted as four (the "one" is dropped).
If your first two cards total zero to five and the banker's total is zero to seven, you take a third card. If your total is higher than five or the banker's total is higher than seven, you are dealt another card. If the banker's first two cards total zero, one or two, the banker draws one card.
There are several situations when the dealer would take a third card. Have a look:
- If the banker's hand totals three: The banker gets a third card unless your third card is an eight, or the banker gets a third card if your two cards total six or seven.
- If the banker's hand totals four: The banker gets a third card if your card is two, three, four, five, six or seven, or the banker gets a third card if your cards total six or seven.
- If the banker's hand totals five: The banker gets a third card if your third card is four, five, six or seven, or the banker gets a third card if your two cards total six or seven.
- If the banker's hand totals six: The banker gets a third card if your third card is six or seven.
- If the banker's hand totals seven: Stand.
