Breeders' Cup

Breeders' Cup Betting:

The Breeders’ Cup World Championship is an annual series of thoroughbred horse races. Founded in 1984, it features two days of competition with the locale changing each year. Every site has been in the United States except 1996, when Canada’s Woodbine Racetrack hosted.

The Breeders’ Cup serves as a year-end championship for North American horse racing. In 2008, $25.5 million was awarded over the two days of competition. Some of the more prominent races include the Classic, Turf, Mile, Ladies’ Classic and Sprint, though there are many others as well.

Churchill Downs has hosted the event more than any other track at six times. The last Breeders’ Cup held at Churchill Downs was in 2006, with the next scheduled for 2010. This year’s Cup, running November 6-7, takes place at Santa Anita Park for the second consecutive year.
