NASCAR Odds – Kenseth will outlast the field under the lights at Lowe’s
If you’re making an online bet this weekend, check out the NASCAR odds for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, which will be held at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This is the longest race on the Sprint Cup series, and Kasey Kahne is a longshot to repeat at the 1.5-mile track.
The smart play is a driver who was strong in the All-Star race at Lowe’s last weekend and has won the grueling 600-miler before.
Coca-Cola 600 odds: Jimmie Johnson leads the way at +500
- WHAT: The Coca-Cola 600
- WHEN: Sunday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. ET
- WHERE: Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC
- KEY STATS: Carl Edwards’ 7.5 finishing average tops among active drivers
- PICK: Matt Kenseth
Jimmie Johnson is the favorite with NASCAR betting odds of +500, and the Lowe’s-sponsored driver is the current king of this track with three wins and six top-10s in seven 600s. His average finish of 8.7 is second only to Carl Edwards, and the only time he didn’t finish in the top 10 in this race was last year, when his engine failed late in the race with Johnson in the lead. Johnson led the first half of last week’s All-Star race before fading to a 13th-place finish.
Kyle Busch is next at +650, and the No. 18 driver is still looking for his first Cup win at Lowe’s to go with his three Nationwide wins. Last year was Busch’s first top-10 in five Cup races here as he finished third and led 61 laps. “Rowdy” led 33 laps at the All-Star race before finishing seventh, but he can take that as a small victory; in four All-Star races, that was the first time he made it all the way to the checkered flag, although he took out Jeff Gordon in the process.
Gordon, of course, is a threat with NASCAR odds of +800 with three wins in the 600, along with nine top-10s in 16 races at this track. However, players should be a little cautious of the No. 24 driver as Gordon has five DNFs in the 600. Still, with last year’s fourth-place run and the knowledge that they had a car capable of winning before getting wrecked by Busch, Gordon should be worth some online sports bets to players.
Tony Stewart got his first win as a driver/owner in last week’s All-Star race, and he was well on his way to winning his first 600 last year before a tire went down with three laps left, which handed the victory to Kahne. Stewart has NASCAR odds of +1000 this weekend, and with six top-5s in his last seven races, the No. 14 driver will make his way to Victory Lane in a points race soon…but not this weekend.
Sunday’s pick is a bit of a darkhorse in your online sports book, as he has NASCAR odds of +2500, but Matt Kenseth is as good as they come in the 600 with an average of 9.7 in nine races, which is third among active drivers. He won this race back in 2000 and he finished second to Stewart in the All-Star race after being the most consistent car on the track all night.
LEE-ROY’S PICK: Roush-Fenway teammate Carl Edwards has the best finishing average in this race, but Kenseth has been the best driver on that team all season. Also, with his odds, the No. 17 driver offers great value. Take Matt Kenseth’s NASCAR odds on Sunday.
