Those looking at this Sunday’s Indy 500 odds know Danica Patrick is the most popular driver in the IndyCar series thanks to her striking looks. That popularity hasn’t translated into great success on the track yet but, with her Indy 500 odds, she could offer some great value to those who are betting sports, and history could be made in the process.
Below is a breakdown of the latest Danica Patrick Indy 500 odds.
Danica Patrick odds: Patrick offers bang for your buck this year
- Patrick has a good track record at the Brickyard
- She’s off to a solid start in IndyCar
- Value players should take a chance on her
Last year was Patrick’s worst showing in four trips to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as she finished 22nd after tangling with Ryan Briscoe in the pits. Prior to 2008, Patrick finished fourth in her first visit to the Brickyard, which is the highest-ever finish for a female driver, along with two eighth-place runs. Her first run in 2005 may have been her best, as she led 19 laps and had a great shot at winning before she ran low on fuel, which forced her to drive more conservatively. That fourth-place finish is tops among all females that have taken to the 2.5-mile track.
Since entering IndyCar in 2005, Patrick has improved each year, and last year’s sixth-place finish in the series was her highest. She currently sits in sixth in the points standings heading into Indy and, after a disappointing 19th-place finish at St. Petersburg to open the season, Patrick bounced back with a fourth-place run at Long Beach and a fifth-place finish at Kansas. She finally won her first race last year in Japan, becoming the first female driver to win a race at the highest level of American auto racing.
Sunday’sbet online Danica Patrick odds for the “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” are listed at +1000, which isn’t great but, given her previous history at the Brickyard, she’s worth an online bet or two. Even before her pit-road incident last year Patrick was running well, so she knows how to get around Indy. Patrick will start tenth on the grid, but that’s a blessing in disguise as she’ll be fourth on the inside row, meaning she can definitely grab a couple positions in the first few laps. I’ll stick with my original Indy 500 betting pick of Helio Castroneves, who is starting from the pole position, but Patrick should earn some consideration in your online sports book.
