Monaco Grand Prix odds – why Barichello will continue Brawn’s Monaco stranglehold
Monaco Grand Prix odds are sure to pique racing fans’ interests this weekend, as those betting sports get a treat from both sides of the Atlantic with the Indy 500 also running the same day in America. The Monaco Grand Prix is one of racing’s “Triple Crown.”
A Brawn Racing driver will get to the winner’s circle, and it isn’t the driver that has been tearing up F1 this season.
Monaco Grand Prix odds: Barichello knows every inch of Monaco
- WHAT: 67th running of the Monaco Grand Prix
- WHEN: Sunday, May 24 at 8:00 a.m. ET
- WHERE: Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, Monaco
- KEY STATS: McLaren leads the way with 15 wins at Monaco
- PICK: Rubens Barichello
Jenson Button is the favorite with F1 odds of +225, and he deserves it after four wins in the first five races, along with a third-place finish. Button has been at the forefront of Brawn’s surge to the top of the F1 heap, and he finished second in Monaco back in 2004. Online sports book odds will favor him all over the world.
Red Bull’s Sebastien Vettel is next at +300, and after a pair of poor starts, Vettel has put up three consecutive top-5s, including a win in China. Vettel finished fifth in last year’s Monaco Grand Prix—his first trip to the legendary track—and with improved equipment he should be running at the front this year.
Button’s Brawn teammate, Rubens Barichello, has F1 odds of +800. Barichello hasn’t missed the top five yet this year, including runner-up finishes in Australia and Spain. He has lots of experience in Monaco with 16 starts there: a dozen top-10 finishes, including three second-place runs.
Ferrari teammates Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen are next with F1 odds of +900 and +1100, respectively. Massa finished sixth in the last race in Spain, which is his season high, while Raikkonen is showing signs of improvement. Raikkonen won here in 2005, while Massa has back-to-back third-place finishes in Monaco.
Lewis Hamilton is falling back in the points standings, and he is rated at +1200 to repeat at Monaco. The defending world champion has four straight top-10s, but Hamilton has yet to finish on the podium this year. He’s only made two trips to Monaco, but they’ve yielded a second-place result and a victory, so don’t count Hamilton out.
Brawn has just been toying with the competition this year and they’ll earn another checkered flag, but it won’t be Button. Instead, it will be Rubens Barichello who will notch his first win of the season.
LEE-ROY’S PICK: Barichello knows every inch of the Monaco track due to his experience and he’s been close to winning this year, so this is as good a place as any to take some of the attention away from his more-successful teammate. Bet on Ruben Barichello’s F1 lines this weekend in Monaco.

Born in the betting capital of Las Vegas, Lee-Roy has grown to appreciate the likes of IndyCar and Formula 1 racing, but his first love is the high-speed ovals of NASCAR and he is a HUGE Tony Stewart fan.
