This week’s NASCAR betting odds for the All-State 400 at the Brickyard sees a familiar trio near the top of the favorites, as they’ve combined to win the last five races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However, an Indiana native will charge to the front on Sunday, and it’s not the one that’s leading the points right now.
All-State 400 Odds – Hoosier Newman makes good in home state
- Johnson, Stewart and Gordon have won eight of 15 All-State 400s
- Hamlin is JGR’s best bet, not Kyle Busch
- Newman gets another win for Stewart-Haas Racing
Jimmie Johnson led a race-high 71 laps in last year’s race, adding to his 2006 victory. However, that win is controversial as NASCAR had to throw cautions every 10 laps due to exploding tires. The No.48 driver has sports betting odds of +500 this week, but the Brickyard is a mixed bag for him, as he has three DNFs in his seven Indy trips.
No one wants to win this race more than Tony Stewart, an Indiana native who took the checkered flag here in 2005 and 2007. The points leader has NASCAR odds of +600 this week, and he hasn’t finished lower than seventh in his last seven races. Stewart’s 9.1 average in 10 races is third among active drivers, and he also has six top-10s, although he only came in 23rd in 2008.
Jeff Gordon leads the way with an 8.6 average in 15 Brickyard races, along with a record four victories, including the inaugural race in 1994. But he’s only third in your offshore sportsbook at +750, even though he’s come in second in three of the last five races. The No.24 driver was fifth in last year’s race, and as close as he’s come lately, it’s only a matter of time before he finds Victory Lane once again.
Kyle Busch is always a threat anywhere he goes, but the No.18 driver needs to get his act together quickly or else he’ll miss the Chase. Busch has an average start of 5.1 over the last eight races, but a finish of 17.5, and he often gets frustrated and is unable to tell his crew chief how to improve the car. Busch has odds of +850, and his 9.0 average in four races at Indy is second behind Gordon, with three top-10s.
If you’re looking for a darkhorse, check out Denny Hamlin at +1200. Hamlin’s third-place run last year was his second top-10 in three visits to the Brickyard, and he’s had four top-fives in his last five races. The No.11 driver has been consistent this season, and he keeps getting closer and closer to a victory.
LEE-ROY'S PICK: Hometown support can spur a driver onto victory, and Stewart-Haas Racing will be well-represented as both of their drivers are from Indiana. Stewart already has a pair of wins here, and now it’s Ryan Newman’s turn to get to Victory Lane. Newman’s 4.9 average start in eight Indy races is the best among active drivers, and now he’s in good equipment that shouldn’t fail him throughout the race. The No.39 driver hit a bit of a rough patch in a four-race stretch from Michigan to Daytona, but he finished sixth at Chicagoland two weeks ago, and he’ll be raring to go on Sunday, adding another famous win to his 2008 Daytona 500 victory. Make Ryan Newman your betting pick this week.
