NASCAR Betting - NASCAR descends on “Thunder Valley”
If you’re a NASCAR betting player, then you’re very familiar with Bristol Motor Speedway, a half-mile track that’s been likened to flying jets in a gymnasium. There’ll be plenty of excitement on tap when all three series head to “Thunder Valley,” starting on Wednesday with a midweek special.
O’Reilly 200 – Wednesday, August 19, 2:00 PM ET Ron Hornaday will be going for his NASCAR-record sixth win, but he’s never fared well at Bristol with only one top-10 in four trips there. Kyle Busch is the defending race-winner after romping to Victory Lane in 2008 by leading 145 laps, while Todd Bodine came in second and also has a great track record here. However, with the run that he’s on, Hornaday is the deserving favorite in your sportsbook, just ahead of Busch.
Food City 250 – Friday, August 21, 6:30 PM ET Brad Keselowski beat out Clint Bowyer in last year’s Nationwide race, after Bowyer had led 121 laps around the half-mile track. Kevin Harvick will be a formidable foe at Bristol, as he won in the Nationwide series here in 2000 and 2001, and has six top-10s in seven races. Kyle Busch had his streak of top-two finishes snapped at 10 when he finished third to Keselowski and Brian Vickers last week at Michigan in a wild finish that ended with flared tempers, a couple shoves and name-calling. Busch, the points leader who is pulling away, is expected to be the favorite according to sports betting lines.
Sharpie 500 Bristol odds – Saturday, August 22, 7:00 PM ET Roush-Fenway has won the last four Sprint Cup races at Bristol, as Matt Kenseth took the checkers in 2005 and 2006, while Carl Edwards is going for his third straight win on the concrete bullring of Bristol. Edwards pulled the bump-and-run move on Kyle Busch, who led for 415 laps, and Busch responded by smashing into Edwards on purpose during the cooldown lap. Edwards then turned Busch as he turned down pit road, and both were put on probation. These two should be near the top of the list when it comes to favorites, but don’t forget about guys like points leader Tony Stewart, Mark Martin and Kenseth when you’re betting online.
Born in the betting capital of Las Vegas, Lee-Roy has grown to appreciate the likes of IndyCar and Formula 1 racing, but his first love is the high-speed ovals of NASCAR and he is a HUGE Tony Stewart fan. When it comes to motorsports handicapping, Buckles takes the checkered flag. Thoughts or questions? Email Comments@BetOnline.com.
