Posted by Lee-Roy Buckles on 8/25/2009 7:00:07 AM
NASCAR oddsThis week’s sports betting odds will take sportsbook players to Michigan and Kentucky, beginning with a pair of races on Saturday, before the Sprint Cup race on Sunday afternoon. Here we’ll do a brief recap of each of the races, the NASCAR odds for each, and what you can expect from the star drivers on the tracks. Get ready to start your engines!

NASCAR odds – NASCAR gets ready to heat up for the summer months

  • Truck fans hope for another thrilling finish at Michigan
  • First-time winners have taken the checkered flag in three straight years at Kentucky
  • Ford has 15 Cup wins at Michigan to lead all manufacturers

Michigan 200, Saturday, June 13, 1:30 PM ET

Erik Darnell beat Johnny Benson by .005 seconds in last year’s race, which was the second-closest finish in the history of the Camping World Truck Series. Kyle Busch has the best finishing average among active Truck drivers at Michigan International Speedway, finishing in the top five in two of his three trips to the wide two-mile track. He’ll be a solid pick at the offshore sportsbook this weekend.

Meijer 300, Saturday, June 13, 8:00 PM ET

Joey Logano grabbed his first Nationwide Series win at Kentucky Speedway in only his third start, taking the checkered flag from the pole position. Logano edged out Scott Wimmer, who has four top-10s in five races in Kentucky. If he is given a chance this weekend, he should offer great value for those betting online. Brad Keselowski, who finished fourth in last year’s race, should also be a factor.

LifeLock 400 odds, Sunday, June 14, 12:30 PM ET

Dale Earnhardt Jr. broke a 76-race winless streak with fuel-mileage strategy at Michigan in 2008, outlasting Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brian Vickers and Tony Stewart. It was the first time that a Chevy had been to Victory Lane in the first Michigan race of the year since 2001, and Fords generally are the play here if you’re going through your sports wagering book. Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and David Ragan are the top four drivers at this track, while Edwards, Kenseth and Biffle all have two wins apiece, so take that into consideration when going over your NASCAR odds.

Born in the betting capital of Las Vegas, Lee-Roy has grown to appreciate the likes of IndyCar and Formula 1 racing, but his first love is the high-speed ovals of NASCAR and he is a HUGE Tony Stewart fan. When it comes to motorsports handicapping, Buckles takes the checkered flag. Thoughts or questions? Email Comments@BetOnline.com.
