Cardinals vs Phillies Odds - Phillies remain hot against Cardinals
Philadelphia has moved up the MLB betting ranks with a recent 10-game winning streak, and they’ll host the slumping St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park in a three-game series between National League division leaders. The Phillies haven’t been great at home this year, but they’ll turn that around against the Cards.
Cardinals vs Phillies odds – Struggling hurlers hurt Cards’ chances
- Pineiro will best Happ in duel
- Lohse still not at 100% for St. Louis
- Blanton keeps roll going against troubled Wellemeyer

Joel Pineiro (8-9, 3.09) vs J.A. Happ (7-0, 2.68)
Pineiro has won three of his last four decisions, and he’s allowed only four runs in his last 23 innings of work. The 30-year-old righty is 1-0 in three starts against the Phillies in his career, along with a very stellar 2.33 ERA. Happ has gone to the seventh inning in his last five starts, giving up just six hits over that time. He earned a no-decision in his lone start against the Cardinals, allowing a pair of runs in 6.1 innings of a 4-2 Phillies victory. Happ hasn’t been solid at home with a 4.04 ERA, and if he’s going to lose his first game, it’ll be at Citizens Ball Park. Go with the Cardinals in a slight online sportsbook betting upset.
MLB betting pick: St. Louis

Kyle Lohse (4-6, 4.21) vs Rodrigo Lopez (2-0, 2.60)
Lohse has been battling injuries all season, and he’s lost six of his last seven starts. He’s had moderate success against the Phillies with a 2-2 record in six starts and a 3.41 ERA, but Lohse has been awful on the road, posting an 0-3 mark in five starts and a 3.41 ERA. Lopez has pitched very well since coming back from the minors, giving up five runs in 17.1 innings, but his two career starts against the Phillies have been a mixed bag with a 1-1 record and a 7.36 ERA. Still, with a struggling Lohse on the other side of the field, the Phillies should have the edge in your offshore sportsbook.
MLB betting pick: Philadelphia

Todd Wellemeyer (7-8, 568) vs Joe Blanton (6-4, 4.24)
Wellemeyer is still only in the rotation because, quite frankly, the Cardinals don’t have anyone else who can go. He hasn’t made it out of the fifth inning in four of their last five outings, and he’s facing a team that has hit him hard in the past as he’s 0-1 in seven games (three starts) with a 6.35 ERA. On the other side, Blanton hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his last five starts, even though he’s only 2-1 in that time. The 28-year-old has also won both of his starts against the Cardinals, posting a sparkling 1.38 ERA. Sports betting odds will obviously go towards the Phillies here.
MLB betting pick: Philadelphia
