Dodgers vs Angels Odds - Angels will stay hot against their city rivals
MLB betting players knew it wouldn’t be long before the Los Angeles Angels awoke from their early-season slumber to challenge in the American League West, and as of Thursday, the Angels were riding a six-game winning streak. The Angels host the MLB-leading Dodgers in a city rivalry at Angel Stadium, and given their hot streak, they should have enough to take the Dodgers down a peg.

Chad Billingsley (9-3, 2.72) vs Joe Saunders (7-4, 3.66)
Billingsley has emerged as a legit Cy Young candidate, and he won his third start in a row by scattering three runs (two earned) on five hits over seven innings of a 6-3 victory at Texas. The 24-year-old righthander has made five appearances against the Angels in his career - including three starts - and he has a 1-2 record despite a solid 2.45 ERA. Saunders has been his usual consistent self all season, and he fell just short of a complete game in a 9-1 romp over San Diego, giving up a run on seven hits over 8.1 innings. However, the 28-year-old southpaw has split a pair of starts against the Dodgers, posting a 2.92 ERA. Hitters could be in trouble in this contest, so be sure to check your sportsbook for the over/under. Billingsley has a 1.94 ERA in six starts away from home, and he’ll get his tenth win of the season in a close call.

Jeff Weaver (3-1, 3.72) vs Jered Weaver (7-2, 2.06)
In this battle of the brothers Weaver, Jeff is making his fourth start of the year and has bounced between the bullpen and the rotation after being a starter for most of his career, so this isn’t new territory for him. The 32-year-old righthander has been solid whenever and wherever he pitches, and against the Angels (who he played for 2006 and was let go to make room for Jered, ironically), he is 5-8 in 16 games (14 starts) with a 4.05 ERA. Jered has been lights out, and he’s coming off his third complete game of the season, a five-hit masterpiece in a 6-0 shutout of the Padres. At home, the 26-year-old righthander has been ridiculous: 5-0 in seven starts, two complete games and a 1.01 ERA. Against the Dodgers, Jered is 3-1 in five starts with a 1.59. Give the nod to baby brother in this one in your sportsbook pick.

Clayton Kershaw (3-5, 4.13) vs John Lackey (2-2, 6.10)
Kershaw, who is second in the National League in walks, tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, but took a no-decision in a 5-4 10-inning win over the Athletics. He walked only three and struck out eight, and the Dodgers are clearly trying to work the 21-year-old southpaw in after a so-so rookie year. Kershaw has made one start against the Dodgers earlier this year, allowing a run on four hits over five innings to take a no-decision in a 3-1 loss. “Big John” looked like the guy who has averaged almost 14 wins a year for the last six seasons, although he did give up at least 10 hits for the third time in four starts. Lackey lasted seven innings in a 9-7 win at San Francisco, and online sports wagering players should know that he’s still working himself back from an offseason injury. Lackey has dominated the Dodgers in his career, going 5-1 in nine appearances (eight starts) with a 1.50 ERA. His experience will pay off in this contest, and betting lines should reflect this.
