Giants vs Brewers Odds – Brew Crew will dust off the broom
Crazily enough, we can say Giants vs Brewers Odds and “wild card chase” in the same sentence. Most MLB betting fans figured the Brew Crew had a decent shot to hang around this time of year, but few sharps foresaw the Giants’ rise. The key has been pitching at the top of the rotation, but can the bottom starters handle Milwaukee’s big bats?
Giants vs Brewers Odds: Stats suggest a rough weekend for Giants
- Cain pitching great, but Gallardo a force at home
- The Brewers lineup owns Barry Zito’s soul
- Jonathan Sanchez frighteningly bad on the road in 2009

Matt Cain (9-1, 2.28) vs Yovani Gallardo (7-4, 3.00)
In the best of the weekend MLB lines, Matt Cain looks for his National League-leading 10th win as the Giants arrive at Miller Park. After years of brutal run support, Cain finally has some help this season and looks like an All-Star as a result. He’s on fire, allowing one or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts. However, he did take a beating in his only career visit to Milwaukee last year. His homer rate is also the one stat of his that has changed for the worse, so that could spell trouble against the likes of Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun.
Another problem for San Fran’s Giants vs Brewers Odds: Yovani Gallardo. The Brewers’ ace usually doesn’t fare well against the Giants, but that shouldn’t matter at home. Gallardo is 8-4 lifetime with a 2.63 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 102 innings at Miller Park. He’s borderline unbeatable at home and has a good offense behind him, so the Brewers look good Friday night.

Barry Zito (4-7, 4.54) vs Seth McClung (3-1, 3.24)
It’s been a strange season for Barry Zito, as well as any online betting fans brave enough to pick the Giants when he pitches. In May, he was 1-4 with a 3.35 ERA; in June, he’s 3-1 with a 6.10 ERA. Go figure. He better hope the bizarre run support continues, as his Miller Park history is hideous. In three starts, he’s 0-3 with a 10.05 ERA and has lasted a combined 14.1 innings. Corey Hart, Bill Hall and Bryan Braun all have a career OPS over 1.000 against him.
Who knows what the Brewers will get from Seth McClung in his first start of the season? Either way, the Giants vs Brewers Odds tilt toward the home team again thanks to Zito’s struggles.

Jonathan Sanchez (2-8, 5.54) vs Jeff Suppan (5-5, 4.65)
Few pitchers frustrate sportsbook players like Jonathan Sanchez. He has oodles of potential but just...can’t...hit...the...plate. Check out these numbers: 0-7 on the road with a 6.44 ERA and 39:30 strikeout-to walk ratio. Do the Giants vs Brewers Odds point to a sweep?
It’s a tough decision, but I think it happens. Jeff Suppan isn’t a great pitcher at home but he should eat at least five innings. While he’ll probably get touched up for a few runs, Sanchez is so bad on the road that I can’t possibly endorse picking San Francisco.
