Mets vs Brewers Odds – Wounded Mets are easy prey
The Mets vs Brewers odds almost make you feel sorry for the Mets. Missing Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, and Carlos Delgado, how can their sports betting odds ever stand a chance? On the road against the slugging, NL Central-leading Brewers, the Mets have to hope their pitching will hold up, but even that has been suspect of late.
Mets vs Brewers odds: Mets have too many injuries to compete offensively
- Nieve a nice surprise in New York’s rotation
- Santana very ordinary on the road
- Gallardo flourishing in ace role

Fernando Nieve (3-0, 1.31) vs Braden Looper (5-4, 5.16)
Where would the Mets be this month without Fernando Nieve? The unsung hero has won all three of his starts this season, and they didn’t come against sportsbook duds either; he’s beaten the Yankees, Rays and Cardinals in consecutive starts, allowing just one homer. Even against a potent group like Milwaukee’s, Nieve should hold his own.
Looper has a nice 2.19 career ERA against the Mets but he’s winless in five June starts with a 7.18 ERA; he’s also serving up gopher balls like crazy, so he may lend the Mets’ depleted offense a hand. Since Nieve is throwing better right now, I’d take New York’s Mets vs Brewers odds in a minor upset (+120). Since Looper is better at home than away, though, I think he and Nieve will both pitch reasonably well, so you should consider betting under the total too.

Johan Santana (9-5, 3.08) vs Mike Burns (0-1, 3.72)
Do we have a second straight online betting upset special here? Maybe. Johan Santana has labored to a 5.93 June ERA. He’s also been pedestrian at best on the road (3-3, 4.79) and continues to allow too many homers, both stats that put him in trouble travelling to Miller Park. Ryan Braun, with his .444 average against Santana, seems destined to hurt the Mets.
What can we say about no-name Mike Burns, a 30 year old with a 5.55 career ERA and one major-league start under his belt? Well, at least he faces a borderline Class-AAA lineup in the Mets vs Brewers odds. Who can really hit him aside from David Wright with so many Mets injured?

Mike Pelfrey (5-3, 4.67) vs Yovani Gallardo (8-4, 2.86)
We can at least commend Mike Pelfrey for stringing together lots of quality starts and keeping the ball in the park (just six homers allowed in 81 innings), but his Mets vs Brewers odds are shaky for Wednesday. He’s not the same pitcher on the road (5.79 ERA this season) and he’s in tough against budding ace Yovani Gallardo, who has really delivered after tearing his ACL last season.
Gallardo’s 44 walks are concerning but his .193 opponents average shows that he’s dominating with filthy natural stuff. The guy is almost unbeatable at home too (4-2, 2.66 this season), so the Mets vs Brewers odds tilt heavily in Milwaukee’s favor here.
MLB betting pick: Brewers
