Mets vs Yankees Odds - Yankees will prove they're still the kings of the Big Apple
Interleague fans will be treated to a great MLB betting matchup this weekend, as the “Subway Series” holds its 2009 edition at Yankee Stadium. The Mets won in all three of their trips to the Bronx last year, but this is a new Yankee Stadium, and offshore sportsbook odds will back the Yankees in their home-run haven.

Livan Hernandez (5-1, 3.88) vs Joba Chamberlain (3-1, 3.79)
The 34-year-old Hernandez is off to a great start - he pitched seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 shutout at Washington - but he’s still looking for his first win over the Yankees. In five starts, Hernandez is 0-3 with a 6.37 ERA against the Yankees, who have hit .312 off of him. In contrast, the 23-year-old Chamberlain has pitched only one inning in relief against the Mets, and he is coming off a no-decision in a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay, giving up three runs on five hits over six innings in which he threw 100 pitches. This has the feeling of a high-scoring affair, so check out the posted total in your offshore sportsbook. I doubt either pitcher will last past the sixth, but the Mets’ middle-relief is terrible, which gives the Yankees the betting edge.

John Maine (5-4, 4.52) vs Andy Pettitte (6-2, 4.22)
Maine’s start was pushed back a day because of a poor outing in Washington, allowing seven runs on six hits - including three homers - in a 7-1 loss. His velocity was noticeably down, which is never a good thing heading into homer-happy Yankee Stadium. Dead arm or not, Maine probably isn’t excited to see the Yankees anyway, as he has lost both of his career starts against the Bronx Bombers with a ridiculous ERA of 16.50. Pettitte has won four of his last five decisions, and he’s fared well against the Mets in 18 career starts, going 8-4 with a 3.46 ERA. In this battle of the southpaws, sports betting odds will give the edge to Pettitte.
MLB betting pick: Yankees

Johan Santana (8-3, 2.39) vs A.J. Burnett (4-3, 4.89)
Santana is coming off his worst start of the year as the Phillies went deep four times off of him, but he still came away with the win when the Mets eked out a 6-5 victory. He has 10 appearances against the Yankees in his career including seven starts, and Santana has racked up a 4-1 record with a 3.15 ERA. Burnett was rocked for five runs in 2.2 innings of a 7-0 shellacking in Boston, striking out one batter while walking five. To make matters worse, he’s awful against the Mets, posting a 2-6 record in 16 starts, although his 3.83 ERA is decent. Burnett will bounce back at home, but so will Santana, who always gets up for big games, as those who bet on sports know all too well.
MLB betting pick: Mets
