Baseball Online Betting Picks – Defending World Series Champions Among Those Looking To Bounce Back This Weekend
Coming into this MLB season many projected that the defending World Series champions would struggle somewhat from a championship hangover. Heading into the annual Kentucky Derby betting weekend the San Francisco Giants are hanging out around the .500 mark, still looking to make their move. The Giants will take a step in the right direction this weekend when they host the Colorado Rockies, while the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals also both try to get back on track.
Cincinnati Reds @ Chicago Cubs
Saturday, 1:10 PM ET
The over would seem like the most reliable option for this game between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs on Saturday, as two pitchers with ERA north of four take the mound for this matinee game. Reds’ starter Bronson Arroyo has really struggled with his command in recent weeks with 14 earned runs allowed in his past four starts, while 23-year old Casey Coleman hasn’t been any better with 10 earned runs allowed over 7.2 innings of work his past two starts. Chicago has struggled at home so far this year, but look for them to take this game in front of a solid MLB betting audience.
MLB Betting Pick: Chicago Cubs
Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals
Saturday, 4:10 PM ET
Rarely does a division leader have a record that is .500 or lower, but that was the case with the Cardinals as they got set for their series against the division rival Brewers. St. Louis has done an excellent job on the road, but will look for a more consistent effort at home continuing on Saturday with Kyle Lohse on the mound against Milwaukee. The 32-year old will attempt to rebound after giving up five runs in his last start after pitching consecutive shutouts in his previous two. The Brewers will counter with Yovani Gallardo, who has allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last five starts and has a 6.10 ERA on the season. St. Louis should be able to capitalize with plenty of run support and get Lohse back in the win column.
MLB Betting Pick: St. Louis Cardinals
Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies
Saturday, 7:05 PM ET
Roy Oswalt had been Mr. consistent for the Phillies this season until giving up five runs in his first loss, a 7-5 decision at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Oswalt had allowed just three earned runs in his previous three starts, and will need to be that good against Jair Jurrjens and the Braves. Jurrjens’ 1.52 ERA ranks among the best in baseball and he is 3-0 on the year, an asset that Atlanta will rely on as they chase the Phillies.
MLB Betting Pick: Philadelphia Phillies
Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants
Saturday, 9:05 PM ET
The Giants haven’t been able to carry over the momentum from their World Series championship, and the rough start for Madison Bumgarner is among the reasons why. Bumgarner is 0-5 with a 4.75 ERA, although he has looked very good in his past two starts but hasn’t gotten the run support. The 21-year old has allowed just one earned run his past two appearances, but San Francisco failed to score in either game. The Giants’ bats will rally at home against Colorado’s Esmil Rogers and his 7.66 ERA, and get Bumgarner into the sports betting win column.
