Bet MLB Baseball – American League Weekend Betting Picks
The online betting layout is still lacking pronounced clarity in late April, as teams continue to round into shape before the long grind of summer. Make your selections wisely.
American League Weekend Betting Picks:
Los Angeles Angels @ Tampa Bay Rays – Saturday, April 30 – 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays don’t have quite the same lineup they possessed last year. The team that won the 2010 American League East and captured the 2008 American League pennant has been a victim of its poor financial condition. Much like the Montreal Expos in the 1990s, the Rays have not been able to retain a lot of the top-shelf talent they’ve gained. This is a reason why manager Joe Maddon is being forced to piece together a lineup in order to get the amount of offense his team needs in order to be competitive in 2011. Well, this sports betting situation the Rays face on Saturday afternoon is something tailor-made for at least a small-scale revival. The Rays will get to see a third-tier pitcher from the visiting Los Angeles Angels at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Matt Palmer will take the hill for the Halos, and he sports a fat earned-run average of 5.74. The Rays might not have a full lineup since Carl Crawford is now a member of the Boston Red Sox, but as long as Evan Longoria is still in the batting order, the Rays still own some pop and can grind out at-bats if need be. Against Palmer, the Rays should be able to get healthy at the plate. They also should hold down the Angels’ lineup thanks to veteran pitcher James Shields, who has struggled this year but is too good to languish throughout 2011. It’s still the month of April, which means it’s not too early to write off Shields. Take Tampa Bay in this game, because the pitching matchup favors them and because Shields is due for a solid outing.
Los Angeles Angels Tampa Bay Betting Pick: Tampa Bay
Game Number Two:
Seattle Mariners @ Boston Red Sox – Saturday, April 30 – 7:05 PM ET
In many ways, MLB baseball betting experts could reason that the lowly Seattle Mariners might be in the perfect position to pick off the Boston Red Sox this Saturday evening at Fenway Park in Boston. After all, Red Sox starter John Lackey is carrying a fat 6.35 earned-run average into this contest, while Seattle starter Doug Fister has an ERA that’s two full runs lower than Lackey’s. In one game, the pitching matchup – based on current form – doesn’t inspire tremendous confidence in the Red Sox.
However, the issue that betting experts need to deal with is that Boston is playing confident, aggressive baseball. The Red Sox, the A.L. East favorite before the season started, have begun to pick up momentum and erase their 3-10 start. Boston is playing like a championship team and is bringing the lumber at the plate. Pick Boston, because Seattle’s limp batting order is not going to do enough damage to John Lackey.
