Yovani Gallard (10-7, 3.13) vs Hiroki Kuroda (3-5, 4.44)
Sportsbook odds: Dodgers -130
The Dodgers aren’t a very big home favorite tonight because the Brewers will have their ace on the mound when the two teams square off. Gallardo, who is making just $414,000 this year, has been one of the most underrated pitchers in the National League in 2009, posting a 3.13 ERA. Aside from one rough start this month, where he allowed five earned runs in five innings of work, Gallardo has given up just 11 earned runs in 32.1 innings pitched (3.08 ERA).
He’ll take on Kuroda, who isn’t much more than a back end rotation plugger for the Dodgers. He typically gives the Dodgers a decent chance to win once every five nights, but his ERA has been high lately. Brewers vs Dodgers odds makers know that his ERA was a lofty 5.46 in July, which means he’s been shaky of late. He’s given up just four earned runs in his last 12 innings pitched but he’s still 0-3 at home this season. Brewers vs Dodgers betting handicappers might be wise to stay away from Kuroda.

Wednesday, August 5, 10:10 p.m. ET
Braden Looper (9-5, 5.03) vs Jason Schmidt (2-1, 4.50 ERA)
If the Brewers do win on Tuesday, look for the Dodgers to avoid the sweep on Wednesday. MLB betting sharps know that as good as the Dodgers play at home, they aren’t likely to be swept. Brewers vs Dodgers odds makers should post the Dodgers as a bigger favorite on Wednesday as they will have the better pitching matchup.
Jason Schmidt has made just three starts since coming back from nearly a full two seasons on the disabled list, and he looked strong in his last outing. Schmidt allowed just one hit over six innings of work, which is quite impressive. While his command still needs some work (nine walks, six strikeouts this season), he’s getting himself back into shape.
Looper has been pounded hard in his last couple of starts for Milwaukee and he’s clearly struggling. He’s allowed 11 earned runs in his last 11 innings pitched while giving up 17 hits and three home runs in the process. Home runs have been an issue for him all season long; he gave up a total of nine in July and has now allowed 26 in just 125.1 inning pitched this season. Brewers vs Dodgers betting handicappers should expect the Dodgers lineup to bat him around.
