Cardinals vs Dodgers Odds - Dodgers to avenge earlier loss to Cardinals
The Dodgers are still an MLB betting favorite in the National League with the league’s best record, but St. Louis is coming on strong. The two meet for a three-game set at Dodger Stadium on Monday, and after losing three of four in St. Louis back in late July, the Dodgers will get some revenge in their ball park.
Cardinals vs Dodgers Odds: Possible playoff preview in August
- Carpenter’s road prowess trumps Haeger’s inexperience
- Boggs, Billingsley should get lit up on Tuesday
- Wainwright/Kershaw duel will be must-see TV
Monday, August 17, 10:10 PM ET
Chris Carpenter (12-3, 2.27) vs Charlie Haeger (0-0, 0.00) Carpenter is 7-0 in his last eight starts, allowing more than three runs only once. One of those starts came against the Dodgers, when he gave up a run in seven innings to boost his career mark to 4-0 in five starts and a 2.18 ERA while facing them. Haeger is a knuckleballer that was just called up from the minors and making his first start of the season after spending time with the White Sox and Padres. This will also be the first career meeting against the Cardinals for the 25-year-old, and he has to face off against a former Cy Young winner who has a 5-2 record in 11 away starts with a 2.69 ERA? The offshore sportsbook edge has to go to St. Louis. MLB betting pick: Cardinals
Tuesday, August 18, 10:10 PM ET
Mitchell Boggs (1-1, 3.78) vs Chad Billingsley (11-6, 3.73) Boggs took his first loss in seven outings as the Cardinals were edged by Cincinnati, and he’s struggled with his control as he has 31 strikeouts in 33.1 innings, but he’s also walked 20 batters. Billingsley also knows all about control issues, as he’s fourth in the league in walks, but seventh in strikeouts. He’s also coming off a hamstring injury that forced him to miss a start, but he says everything is back to normal, which should be enough to give the betting edge to the Dodgers at home. If there is a game where you should consider the over, this is it. Billingsley is 0-2 in five outings (four starts) against the Cardinals with a 4.76 ERA, so this game should be decided by the bullpen. MLB betting pick: Dodgers
Wednesday, August 19, 10:10 PM ET
Adam Wainwright (14-7, 2.62) vs Clayton Kershaw (8-7, 2.91) Wainwright has to be considered a serious Cy Young contender, as he threw seven scoreless innings in a win over San Diego, and he’s working on another scoreless streak against the Dodgers, as he tossed eight innings of shutout ball over Los Angeles three weeks ago, taking his career mark against them to 2-2 in seven outings (four starts) with a 3.26 ERA. Kershaw has made three starts against the Cardinals in his career, going 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA, and he was unlucky to earn a no-decision in a 3-2 loss in St. Louis as he tossed a four-hitter over eight innings to blank the Cardinals, but he was let down by his bullpen and offense. Hitters will be in for a long night on Wednesday, and the sports betting lines could go either way as Wainwright is an insane 9-1 with a 3.41 ERA in 11 road starts, while Kershaw is only 3-3 in 13 starts at Dodger Stadium, but he has a sparkling 1.86 ERA. MLB betting pick: Dodgers
