Diamondbacks Cardinals Betting – Diamondbacks, Cardinals Look To Close Gap For Division Lead
After an incredible comeback performance against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday that actually helped the St. Louis Cardinals out in the National League Central, nobody doubts that the Arizona Diamondbacks are a legitimate playoff contender. The Diamondbacks are just a couple of MLB betting games back of the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants for top spot in the NL West as they head to the Midwest to take on St. Louis in a three-game set.

As long as pitchers such as Joe Saunders manage to keep their ERA down the way he has in allowing just five earned runs over his past three sports betting starts, the Diamondbacks will be in good shape. Arizona is among the top teams in the NL in terms of runs scored and eighth overall in the majors, and if they can get quality outings from the rotation they should be just fine. The offense will look to get to Cardinals’ starter Kyle Mclellan early after he allowed five earned runs in each of his last two games, and if they can rattle his confidence through the first couple of innings they should be able to put this one away early on.

It was St. Louis’ starter Kyle Lohse who was tagged for four runs in an 8-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays the last time he was on the mound, and he knows that he will need to bounce back with a much better effort to keep his ERA below 3.00. Lohse will have a good chance to get back in the sports betting bonus win column against Ian Kennedy for the Diamondbacks. Kennedy was tagged for seven earned runs in his last start, a 7-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics, and the Cardinals should be aggressive as they look to even the series.

Daniel Hudson is another Diamondbacks’ pitcher that is coming off of a rough start, allowing five earned runs in just four innings of work against the Milwaukee Brewers. Hudson will look for a better start against Chris Carpenter and the Cardinals, and he will need to be given the way that the latter performed in his last outing. Carpenter pitched eight shutout innings while striking out three in a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds’ powerful offense, and has allowed just two earned runs combined through his past three starts dating back to a big win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cardinals’ offense will send three players to the All Star game in Lance Berkman, Yadier Molina, and Matt Holliday, and they will look to show their home fans why as they continue to clash with the Brewers for first place in the NL Central.
