Hiroki Kuroda (5-6, 4.15) vs Matt Cain (13-4, 2.51)
Sportsbook odds: Giants -120 Needless to say, the Giants will have the pitching edge on Friday night as they send Cy Young candidate Matt Cain to the mound against Hiroki Kuroda. Opposing batters are hitting just .214 against Cain since the All-Star break, as he has been downright dominant this year. He’ll go up against Kuroda, who has been effective lately. Kuroda has an ERA of 2.79 of his last three starts. Under might be a good play as both pitchers have been throwing well recently but the Giants clearly have the edge with Cain on the hill. Vicente Padilla (10-6, 4.63) vs Jonathan Sanchez (6-11, 4.03) Vicente Padilla has made a few starts with the Dodgers, and the results have been fairly decent. In three starts, Padilla has allowed just five earned runs in 16.1 innings pitched, which puts his ERA at 2.79. He’s 2-0 in that span but the intensity will heat up this weekend, so we’ll see how effective he is in a playoff-type atmosphere. While Padilla has been reliable, Sanchez has been fantastic. Since the All-Star Break, Sanchez has held opposing hitters to a .186 average while striking out 75 batters in 59.2 innings pitched. His WHIP prior to the midsummer classic was 1.50 but after, it has dropped to 1.15. MLB Betting Edge: Giants

Chad Billingsley (12-9, 3.93) vs Brad Penny (9-8, 5.15) Chad Billingsley is supposed to be the Dodgers ace, but he hasn’t pitched like it recently. Billingsley has given up at least three earned runs in each of his last four starts and he’s looked very fatigued. Billingsley hasn’t lasted more than six innings in a start since July 5th. Glancing at his splits, Billingsley was 9-4 with a 3.38 ERA prior to the All-Star Break and opposing hitters were batting just .227 against him. Since then, he’s 3-5 with a 5.23 ERA and opposing batters are hitting .285 against him. Brad Penny has been solid for the Giants since they picked him up. In two starts, he’s allowed just two earned runs while last 15 innings. He’s given up just eight hits and two walks in that span. MLB Betting Edge: Even
