Jonathan Sanchez (6-10, 4.27) vs Cole Hamels (7-8, 4.52)
Sportsbook odds: Phillies -185 The Phillies are a big favorite on Tuesday night because they have the brand-name pitcher on the hill, but he hasn’t been the better pitcher of late. In August, Hamels was 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA. Although his latest start was strong (8 IP, 0 ER, 7 K, 2 BB), the Phillies still lost four of his five August starts. His counterpart, Jonathan Sanchez, has been much better for the Giants as the team has won four of the last six times he’s been on the mound. Sanchez has given up just nine earned runs in that span, which puts his ERA at 2.73 over his last six starts. MLB Betting Edge: Giants

Tim Lincecum (13-4, 2.33) vs J.A. Happ (10-3, 2.63 ERA) Wednesday’s matchup should be a pitcher’s duel that will have MLB betting fans drooling. J.A. Happ is the frontrunner for rookie of the year in the National League this year, and he’s coming off of a fantastic month. Happ was 3-1 in August with a 1.67 ERA. It’s worth noting that he’s pitched better away than at home this year. At Citizens Bank Ballpark, Happ is 4-1 with a 3.77 ERA but on the road, he’s 6-2 with a 1.88 ERA. For the Giants, Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum is making a case for back-to-back Cy Young Awards. He has a 2.33 ERA since the All-Star Break and opposing batters are hitting just .196 against him. He keyed the Giants’ hot stretch through August as the team has won five of his last seven starts, so stick with him. MLB Betting Edge: Giants

Barry Zito (9-11, 3.94) vs Pedro Martinez (2-0, 4.50 ERA) Believe it or not, but Barry Zito is earning his keep these days. Zito has been fantastic over his last nine starts, giving up just 12 earned runs in his last 44 innings pitched (2.45 ERA). Since the All-Star Break, he’s 4-2 with a 1.92 ERA. Pedro Martinez has been a valuable asset to the Phillies and they’ve supported him well in his four outings. The Phillies have won all four times he’s been on the mound and they’ve provided him with 7.5 runs of support per outing. Look for that to continue on Thursday. MLB Betting Edge: Phillies
