Giants Tigers Betting – Giants Look To Tame Tigers In Three-Game Set This Weekend
The Detroit Tigers have finally made their move in the American League Central by climbing over the Cleveland Indians and into first place this past week. Whether or not they are able to hold on to that spot will receive a sound test this weekend as they hook up with the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants at Comerica Park in Detroit. The Giants are facing similar circumstances as they look to hold off the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West as they enter the MLB betting month of July.

With so little offense to rely on, the Giants have really needed to get the most out of their pitching staff just to stay ahead of the Diamondbacks in the NL West, a challenge that won’t get any easier against a powerful Detroit offense. The Tigers can flat out score, and that means that pitchers like Madison Bumgarner will need to bring their best stuff. Bumgarner is just 4-9 with a 3.84 ERA, but he has only allowed one earned run in three of his past five starts and if he can play with that edge he should be able to slow down the Detroit offense. Tigers’ starter Brad Penny has been awful this season, so San Francisco’s offense should be able to provide enough betting run support.

The Giants aren’t sure at this point who they will go with on Saturday to counter Max Scherzer for the Tigers, but what is certain is that they will be in trouble against a team that has performed outstanding in terms of run support for this starting pitcher. Scherzer has had a ton of success this season despite a pedestrian 4.47 ERA, which is proved by his 9-3 record at this point in the year. The Tigers’ offense will come alive again on Saturday, and Scherzer will join Justin Verlander as the two pitchers on the staff with 10 sports betting bonus wins in 2011.

The rubber match of this three-game set will come down to pitching, with Ryan Vogelsong getting the call for San Francisco against Rick Porcello for Detroit. While Porcello has struggled to get his ERA below five with at least that many earned runs allowed in each of his past three starts, Vogelsong has looked solid with a 6-1 record and 2.09 ERA. The 33-year old will look to bounce back after giving up a season-high three earned runs against the Chicago Cubs in a 13-7 win in his last appearance, and he should be able to wrap up this matinee date with a win to help the Giants take the MLB finale of the three-game set.
