Indians Orioles Betting – Indians Get Back On Track In Baltimore
Sports betting players watched Cleveland and Baltimore roar out of the gate, and while the Indians are still holding on, the Orioles are back to their usual, lowly selves. Cleveland will begin the second half of the season at Camden Yards, and they should be able to take two of three from their American League East counterparts.
Thursday, 7:05 PM ET – (7-6, 2.64) vs. Jeremy Guthrie (3-12, 4.18)Masterson comes out of the All-Star break ranking seventh in the American League in ERA, and he already has a win over the Orioles this year, allowing a run in seven innings at home. He is 3-3 in nine outings (five starts) against the Orioles with a 5.20 ERA, but the 26-year-old is 0-2 in four games (two starts) in Baltimore with an ERA of 9.00. Guthrie lost his last three appearances, which have included a pair of starts, and he has now allowed four runs or more in half of his last 10 starts. The 32-year-old is 2-1 in five games (three starts) against the Indians with an ERA of 5.91, and he is 2-4 in 10 games (nine starts) at Camden Yards.
Masterson was rolling before the break and he may have added motivation as you could argue he deserved an All-Star berth. He had allowed a single run in his final 23.2 innings going into the break, while Guthrie has been plagued by a combination of ineffectiveness, poor run support and bad fielding, which should make Cleveland the MLB betting favorites on the road.

Friday, 7:05 PM ET – Josh Tomlin (10-4, 3.81) vs. Jake Arrieta (9-6, 4.90)
After allowing six runs in three straight starts, Tomlin didn’t give up more than three in his next five starts ahead of the break, and he earned a win over the Orioles earlier this season to take his career mark to 1-1 in two starts against Baltimore, posting a 3.27 ERA. The 26-year-old is 3-3 in eight starts on the road in 2010 with an ERA of 4.35. The Orioles counter with Arrieta, who dropped three of his last four starts, but he should feel fortunate to have the record that he does as he leads the majors in run support. He allowed five runs in his six innings in his first start against Cleveland, but somehow came away with the win; that has been the story of Arrieta’s season.
Despite a 4.50 ERA at home, Arrieta is 5-2 in nine starts, and the 25-year-old has to work on his command as he is sixth in the American League in walks. Still, the Orioles get the MLB betting edge at home because of his run support and Tomlin’s road splits.
Betting Edge: Baltimore Orioles
Saturday, 7:05 PM ET - Carlos Carrasco (8-6, 4.28) vs. Alfredo Simon (1-2, 4.85)
Carrasco has given up 11 runs and lasted only seven innings in his last two outings ahead of the break, and he has now been taken deep six times in his last four starts. The 24-year-old will be making his first career start against the Orioles and it is his first trip to Camden Yards, but Carrasco won’t be fazed by going out on the road, where he is 5-1 in nine starts with a 2.59 ERA. Simon made his first start of the season before the break, but you have to make sure you check the news before making your MLB betting picks because he says in his last outing, he felt something pop in his hamstring, which has already sent him to the disabled list. The 30-year-old has made one appearance against the Indians, blowing a save at home in 2010.
Therefore, if Simon isn’t going to pitch, the Orioles will have to move someone from the bullpen and there is a strong chance they won’t be as good as him. That swings the momentum over to Cleveland’s side in your online sportsbook.
Betting Edge: Cleveland Indians
Sunday, 1:35 PM ET – Mitch Talbot (2-6, 6.33) vs. Undecided
Talbot was roughed up in his last few starts, allowing six runs or more in three of his last five starts, and 14 runs in 9.1 innings. He is 0-5 in his last seven starts overall and may be pitching for his spot with the Indians, because one more outing like that and he’ll likely be sent down. The 27-year-old is 1-0 in two starts against the Orioles with a 3.65 ERA, and both of those starts have come at Camden Yards. The Orioles still have to figure out who will start this series finale, as Zach Britton and Chris Tillman are both in the minors, although Tillman may make his way back to the big team. They’ve sent Brian Matusz to the minors, and Brad Bergensen has injury problems.
The instability of the Baltimore rotation leaves you no choice but to give the nod to the Indians, as Talbot has motivation and a good track record in Baltimore, while the Orioles are either left to bring someone from the bullpen, or recall one of their young, ineffective pitchers from the minors. Look for your online betting book to lean towards Cleveland.
