Mets Red Sox Betting – Red Sox’s Farm System Comes Up Against Mets
Sports betting odds have Boston as one of the favorites to win the World Series this season due to their veterans, but they also have a very good farm system which will allow them to stay competitive when the core of the team retires. That’s why we’re giving them the edge in their meeting with the New York Mets on Thursday, because the Mets’ young players haven’t shown management anything to be confident about.

Why Bet On Mets
The Mets’ big mission during this spring training could be to find a new ace as it has been reported that Johan Santana’s shoulder rehabilitation isn’t going as planned. The lefty had surgery last September and has reportedly felt discomfort throwing the ball, and that leaves a hole in a rotation that was already in need of an upgrade. Chris Young was given a chance by the Mets after an injury-plagued time in San Diego, but MLB betting players remember when Young was healthy, he was an All-Star, but he hasn’t been healthy in three years. Mike Pelfrey hasn’t looked good at all this spring, and the Oliver Perez may be coming to an end; we’re not even sure he’ll make the team in 2011.
Offensively, the Mets have been trying to ease Jose Reyes back into the lineup and when he is at 100%, there aren’t many leadoff hitters who are better than the speedy shortstop. Jason Bay has shown glimpses that he can put his disappointing 2010 behind him, but Carlos Beltran’s knees aren’t being cooperative, which isn’t a good sign. First baseman Nick Evans and outfielder Lucas Duda have received the most at-bats so far in spring training as the Mets look to replace Beltran’s numbers.
Why Bet On Red Sox
If spring training is any indication, it could be a long season on the mound for Josh Beckett and Daisuke Matsuzaka as both have struggled so far, but we’re backing Beckett to come through when the season begins. Clay Buchholz is out to prove that last year’s success was no fluke, and John Lackey has also been decent in the spring. The Red Sox have been giving a lot of work to Alfredo Aceves in both starting and relief capacities, and the former Yankee looks like he’s fully recovered from back injuries. If Matsuzaka doesn’t improve (and with his salary, he’ll be given every opportunity to), Aceves could take over the fifth spot in the rotation.
The Red Sox have been putting their stars out there in the spring, particularly veterans David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis, who will be crucial to Boston’s success in 2011. Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury look to be healthy, but we’ll see if the Red Sox test them in this game. Carl Crawford has been shaky in the spring, while Adrian Gonzalez hasn’t played yet after offseason shoulder surgery. Ryan Kalish and Nate Spears have gotten every opportunity to make the team, and Spears have been the more impressive of the two.
How The Game Will Play Out
MLB betting odds should favor the Red Sox at their spring training “home”, but of course, you won’t get a big line as no one knows who is going to suit up for a team on any given day in spring training. Especially as you get closer to the start of the regular season, you’ll see a lot of players that managers are on the fence about as you know veterans are going to play in the regular season. We trust Boston’s kids a lot more than we do New York’s kids, and that’s all you can really go on in spring training. Take the Red Sox in your online betting book.
