MLB championship series predictions: Split stats suggest trouble for Pettitte, Wolf

Yankees vs Angels odds: Yankees +118, Angels -138
Andy Pettitte (1-0, 1.42) vs Jered Weaver (1-0, 1.23) If the Angels want close the gap on the Yankees quickly, sending Jered Weaver to the hill is a good idea. Though the Yankees hit him hard for a 5.59 ERA over three starts, two of those outings came at Yankee Stadium. Weaver is a force at home; he was 9-3 there with a 2-90 ERA and 1.06 WHIP this season. He was also 5-1 in day games this season and it’s worth noting that the Game 3 starts at 1:13 p.m. Los Angeles time. Andy Pettitte was an excellent road pitcher and went 6-1 from August to October but his sportsbook odds are deceiving. The Angels had his number like few other teams this season. In three outings, Pettitte was 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA as the Angels hit .323 off him. Day games weren’t kind to him either; he was 3-4 with a 5.73 ERA. Look for the Angels to inch back into the ALCS with a win today. Yankees vs Angels betting edge: Angels
Tonight, 8:07 p.m. ET
Dodgers vs Phillies odds: Dodgers +108, Phillies -128
Randy Wolf (0-0, 4.91) vs Joe Blanton (0-0, 4.91) The online sports betting decisions really get interesting as the NLCS reaches Game 4, as the Dodgers and Phillies look deeper and deeper into their rotations. It’s tough to know what to expect from Randy Wolf today; on one hand, he was excellent on the road this season (even at Citizens Bank Park), going 7-4 with a 2.78 ERA. On the other hand, the Phillies beat him up this season overall, scoring seven runs and smacking three homers over 12.1 innings. Shane Victorino, Jimmy Rollins and Pedro Feliz in particular give Wolf trouble, each sporting a career OPS over 1.000 against him. Feliz has three homers in just 17 at-bats against Wolf. Philadelphia’s Joe Blanton isn’t the perfect pitcher – he allowed 30 homers this season – but he has a 2.88 career ERA against the Dodgers. He’s a reliable innings eater who usually gets the win with average or better run support and was 7-4 at home this year. The Phillies should take a stranglehold on the NLCS tonight.
