Orioles Red Sox Betting – Red Sox Aim To Close Out First Half On Top Of AL East
Even after breaking out from under their slow MLB betting start, the Boston Red Sox still have a long way to go if they are going to advance to the postseason as American League East champions. Still trailing the New York Yankees, and with the Tampa Bay Rays in hot pursuit, the Red Sox will look to continue to push forward in the right direction against the worst team from what has long been considered the most crowded division in baseball.

Thursday, 7:10 PM ETThe Orioles have been one of the worst teams in the majors on the road, and Boston fans are hoping that their team can keep it that way with a four-game set that leads into the 2011 All Star game. The Red Sox have a couple of pitchers that are headed to the midsummer classic, and although Andrew Miller isn’t one of them he has been solid for the club this season. Miller is 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA, and has given Boston another serviceable arm to make up for the struggling veteran John Lackey. Miller will open the series for the Red Sox against Jake Arrieta, who has allowed 11 earned runs through his past three starts.

The weekend will begin with the fans at Fenway Park getting to see one of their All Star arm’s in action, as Josh Beckett gets the call against Zach Britton for the Orioles. After a disappointing sports betting season a year ago, Beckett has bounced back to lead the Red Sox in ERA with a 2.12 mark, and is 7-3 so far in 2011.

Saturday, 7:10 PM ETThe one blemish in the Red Sox starting rotation has been the poor play of Lackey, who allowed seven runs in just 2.1 innings of work in his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 32-year old has struggled mightily with location, and while Chris Jakubauskas hasn’t been much better, the Orioles’ offense should be able to give him enough run support to edge out a close sports betting bonus win.

With Clay Buchholz unavailable, Alfedo Aceves will continue to occupy this spot for Boston in their final game before the All Star break. Aceves has started just four games this season, but has looked good in spurts and has the confidence of the management. He will line up against a bright Orioles’ prospect in Mitch Atkins, who allowed just one earned run through six innings of work against the defending AL champion Texas Rangers in his first appearance of the season. The Red Sox could be caught looking ahead to the midsummer classic, allowing Baltimore to steal another big win on the road.
