Phillies vs Giants Odds - Phillies to be road warriors in San Francisco
The defending champions from Philadelphia lead the majors in wins away from home, which is why they’re one of the betting favorites once again. The Phillies head to AT&T Park for a four-game set against San Francisco and the league’s best pitching, and they’ll manage to take two from the Giants.

Rodrigo Lopez (3-0, 3.09) vs Jonathan Sanchez (3-9, 4.92)
Lopez has gotten all the run support he’s needed from the Phillies, who have scored 24 runs in his last two starts. The 33-year-old righthander has faced the Giants only once in his career, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings in a no-decision. Sanchez has been back to his normal, inconsistent self after his surprise no-hitter earlier this month. The 26-year-old southpaw was tagged for five runs in five innings of an 8-2 loss in Colorado, and while he struck out five, he also walked four.
Sanchez is making only his second start against the Phillies (sixth appearance overall), and he has a 5.40 ERA. But he’s making his first start at home since the no-hitter, and he’s been decent at AT&T Park this year, while Lopez is heading on the road for the first time this season, which should give San Francisco an edge in your offshore sportsbook.
MLB betting pick: Giants
Friday, July 31, 10:15 PM ET
Joe Blanton (7-4, 4.11) vs Ryan Sadowski (2-3, 4.81)
Blanton is looking to cap off an excellent July on Friday, as he is 3-0 in four starts with a 1.21 ERA. He’s struggled against the Giants in five career starts, going 1-2 along with a 5.74 ERA, and this is his first road outing in a month. Sadowski, a 26-year-old rookie, has been knocked around a bit since starting his career with 17 scoreless innings, giving up 13 in his last 11.1, which has resulted in three straights losses.
He’ll return home after two tough outings on the road, and Sadowski will give the Phillies a tough time, but the veteran Blanton is on a roll right now and he’ll have his way with the soft-hitting Giants.
MLB betting pick: Phillies
Saturday, August 1, 9:05 PM ET
Jamie Moyer (10-7, 5.32) vs Tim Lincecum (11-3, 2.30)
The 46-year-old Moyer has won six of his last seven starts, and in his past 13.2 innings on the road, he’s allowed no runs on seven hits. He’s faced the Giants 11 times in his 22-year-career, going 4-6 with a respectable 3.31 ERA. Lincecum - who was just three when Moyer started his career - is coming off his NL-leading fourth complete game, striking out a career-high 15 batters in a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh. He’ll be looking to improve against the Phillies, against whom he is 1-0 in four starts with a 4.68 ERA, and they’ve taken him deep six times, the most of any major-league team.
Moyer has been getting run support when he pitches badly, which makes his recent stretch look better than it is, but he won’t get it with Lincecum in the other dugout, especially at AT&T Park where the sports betting lines will favor San Francisco.
MLB betting pick: Giants
Sunday, August 2, 4:05 PM ET
Cole Hamels (7-5, 4.42) vs Barry Zito (6-10, 4.54)
Hamels has gone 3-0 in his last five starts, and he looked like his old self with a nine-strikeout performance in a 4-3 win at Arizona. The 25-year-old southpaw has never lost against the Giants with a 3-0 mark in four starts, but a 4.03 ERA is a little alarming.
Zito has given up only four runs in his last 19 innings, and after tying a season high with five walks against Atlanta, he walked only two Pirates while taking a no-decision in a 3-2 victory. In three career outings against the Phillies, the 31-year-old lefty is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA and surprisingly, the Phillies have never hit a home run against Zito. That run comes to a halt on Sunday as Philadelphia will add to their NL-leading total.
