Rangers Mariners Betting – Rangers Look To Open Second Half Strong Against Division Rivals
While the slumping Seattle Mariners skidded into the All Star break on the heels of five straight MLB betting losses, the defending American League champion Texas Rangers trended the other way with seven straight wins to hold on to top spot in the AL West heading into the All Star break. The Rangers will now look to parlay that momentum into a strong second half in order to clinch another division title, as they head to Seattle for a three-game set.

The Mariners’ struggles this season can be summed up in the numbers that Doug Fister has registered. Despite a solid 3.09 ERA that ranks among the best pitchers in the AL, Fister’s record stands at 3-10 as Seattle’s order has consistently struggled to provide him with run support. The 27-year old will have a tough time keeping his numbers down against a powerful Rangers’ offense that finished the first half with the second strongest offense in the majors. Colby Lewis will get the call for Texas, and he should be able to do enough to clinch his ninth win of the sports betting bonus season.

The Mariners’ gave reigning AL Cy Young award winner Felix Hernandez his final start right before the All Star break to ensure that he would have that time off to rest and be ready for this sports betting series as well, ready he is. Hernandez did not play in the Midsummer Classic, and Seattle fans are hoping that he can bring his best stuff to shut down Texas. The Rangers will counter with an All Star of their own in CJ Wilson, who finished the first half of the season with a 9-3 record and a 3.14 ERA. The Mariners’ offense showed signs of life earlier in the year, but until they prove that they can put up numbers on a consistent basis they won’t inspire much confidence.

Fans in Seattle will cringe at the thought of another sweep, but that could be in order with the Rangers turning to Matt Harrison for the finale. Harrison has been very consistent for Texas again this season and finished the first half with one of his best starts again as he went 7.2 innings allowing just six hits without an earned run in a 2-0 win over the Oakland Athletics. The Rangers are hoping he can open the second half with another one of those quality starts, as they should be able to provide him with some quality run support against reliever Blake Beavan, who will be making a spot start for the second time the season.
