Rockies vs Giants Odds - Lincecum, Zito will keep Giants in Wildcard hunt
The Rockies vs Giants odds center on San Francisco’s desperation. For much of the summer, the Giants stuck with the Rockies in the National League Wildcard race. Suddenly, they’re hanging by a thread, trailing by four and a half games. Can they stay alive in MLB betting with a few home wins this week?
Rockies vs Giants Odds: Pitching matchups favor Lincecum, Zito and the Giants
- Lincecum will bounce back from back woes
- No one better than Zito against the Rockies
- Homer syndrome will plague Matt Cain

Rockies vs Giants odds: Jason Hammel (8-7, 4.31) vs Tim Lincecum (13-5, 2.34) As dominant as Tim Lincecum has been this season, he can’t buy a win of late. He has one “W” in his six outings. He may break that mini slump tonight, however. He’s supposedly rested and feeling good after missing a start due to back spasms and that’s bad news for Colorado, as Tiny Tim has a 1.80 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings against the Rockies this season. Jason Hammel has held his own against San Francisco this season, allowing five earned runs in 17 innings over three starts. The problem; he has no wins despite the 2.65 ERA against San Fran. Run support is a problem for him and the online betting trend should continue tonight. Pick the Giants. Rockies vs Giants Betting Edge: Giants

Rockies vs Giants odds: Ubaldo Jimenez (13-10, 3.32) vs Barry Zito (9-12, 3.99) Pitching has been the key to both NL Wildcard contenders’ success this season and Ubaldo Jimenez and Barry Zito are proof of that. Jimenez, the majors’ hardest-throwing starter, has rattled off 12 straight quality starts. He hasn’t had great run support against the Giants but he’s been stellar, sporting a 2.48 ERA in 29 innings against them. Unfortunately for the Rockies, Barry Zito is a certified Colorado killer. In three starts against them this year, he’s allowed just one earned run in 21.1 innings. There’s just no way you can bet against the Giants when Zito faces Colorado. Rockies vs Giants odds: Jorge De La Rosa (14-9, 4.37) vs Matt Cain (13-5, 2.61) The wins and strikeouts keep piling up for Jorge De La Rosa, who is 8-2 since the All-Star break. He’s 2-0 against San Francisco this season despite a 5.40 ERA against the Giants; he could struggle against Bengie Molina (.353 off him) and especially Freddy Sanchez, who bats .545 off him lifetime. It’s been a banner year for Matt Cain, but he’s been mortal for the last two months, going 1-3, and he’s allowed five homers to the Rockies in 25 innings this season. Colorado will take one back at the sportsbook. Rockies vs Giants Betting Edge: Rockies
MLB betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick It’s always a pleasure to watch these two rivals slug it out on the strength of their pitching; based on the matchup, the Giants should gain a bit of ground – just enough to hang in the Wildcard race. DALE’S PICK: Giants to take two of three
