Rockies vs Phillies Odds - Rockies surprise Phillies on the road
Colorado has been flying under the MLB betting radar all year, but they lead the NL wild-card standings and roll into this week’s series in Philadelphia on a four-game winning streak. The Rockies are a very good road team, while the Phillies struggle at Citizens Bank Park, and Colorado will use that to build on their momentum.

Jason Hammel (5-6, 4.66) vs Jamie Moyer (10-7, 5.32)
Hammel was knocked around and didn’t make it out of the second in a 7-0 loss to the Mets, allowing five runs. His first start of the year came against the Phillies at home, and he earned a no-decision in an 8-4 loss, giving up two runs in 2.2 innings. Moyer tossed six scoreless innings in a 6-2 win in Arizona, but he walked four batters to go with his five strikeouts. He’s never fared well against the Phillies, going 1-4 in five starts with a 5.45 ERA, and he’s got a 6.83 ERA in 10 home starts.
Baseball lines are favoring Philadelphia, but with Moyer having his troubles at Citizens Bank Park, go with the upset.
MLB betting pick: Rockies

Jorge De La Rosa (9-7, 4.68) vs J.A. Happ (7-2, 2.97)
De La Rosa is 8-1 in his last 10 starts, giving up more than three runs in only three of those outings. The 28-year-old southpaw gave up five runs in 4.2 innings of that 8-4 loss to the Phillies, dropping his career mark against them to 0-2 in five games (three starts) with an 8.79 ERA. Happ pitched better in a 4-0 loss at Arizona, but still dropped his second straight start. Despite a 10-3 loss in Colorado, Happ did his part, allowing a single hit in 2.1 innings of relief work.
Happ doesn’t know if he’ll be staying in the rotation with the acquisitions of Pedro Martinez and Cliff Lee, so that could hurt Happ’s performance and cause an online betting upset.
MLB betting pick: Rockies

Aaron Cook (10-3, 3.88) vs Cliff Lee (8-9, 3.02)
Cook hasn’t lost a game in over two months, and a no-decision back in May was one of his best showings against the Phillies, although he has a career record of 1-4 in eight outings (seven starts) while facing Philadelphia. Lee hurled a complete game in his Phillies debut, leading them to a win in San Francisco. While spending 7.5 seasons in Cleveland, Lee never faced the Rockies, but he’ll want to give a good account of himself in his home debut. Also, a Cleveland pitcher (C.C. Sabathia) was traded to an NL team (Milwaukee) halfway through 2008, and while Lee may not be in the running for any MVP awards, he’ll definitely boost the Phillies in your offshore sportsbook.
MLB betting pick: Phillies
