Rockies Yankees Betting – Yankees Will Flex Their Muscle Against Rockies This Weekend
After a strong start that made it look as though they could run away with a division title this MLB betting season, the New York Yankees now find themselves with company at the top of the American League East after the Boston Red Sox woke up and went on a tear over the past couple of months. The Yankees head into this weekend series looking up at their longtime rivals but with an excellent chance to gain some ground at home against a Colorado Rockies’ team that has been the epitome of average tin 2011.

Fans in New York would love to see the pinstripes take advantage of this home series to put their record at Yankees Stadium on par with their record away from the Bronx this season, and if they are going to do just that they will need their starting pitchers to be good. AJ Burnett has been better than most expected in 2011 and although he is still prone to show bouts of inconsistency he has been able to handle adversity. The same cannot be said about Rockies’ starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who has been one of the biggest disappointments of the year with a 4.68 ERA and 2-7 record. The difference in this game will come down to a powerful Yankees’ offense that has the tools to expose Jimenez, as Burnett does just enough to get the sports betting bonus decision.

With Jimenez continuing to struggle, the Rockies don’t have any answer in the pitching department for New York, a weakness that will be exposed once again in Saturday’s matinee game. Yankees’ ace CC Sabathia will look for his 10th win of the season as he improves on his 3.39 ERA, and that shouldn’t be a difficult sports betting test against Rockies’ starter Aaron Cook, who is 0-2 in three starts in 2011.

Things don’t get any prettier for Colorado on Sunday when Juan Nicasio brings his 4.71 ERA to the mound against Ivan Nova for New York. Nicasio has allowed 12 earned runs in his past three starts and has yet to face an offense as strong as the Yankees’, while Nova has won three straight games including two against AL division leaders. The 24-year old has allowed just seven runs over that span to bring his ERA down to 4.13, and is finally beginning to deliver on the promise that he has shown while in the organization. This win will be about more than just the final score as Nova continues to inspire confidence in his teammates and management, and the Yankees close the gap on the Red Sox with a three-game set in front of hometown fans that hope to be able to see Derek Jeter reach 3,000 hits at Yankees Stadium.
