Tigers Royals Betting – Tigers Look To Flex Their Muscle Against Indians Before All Star Break
After a slow start to the MLB betting season, the Detroit Tigers have climbed their way back into the race for the American League Central title, and are now right behind the division-leading Cleveland Indians for top spot. If the Tigers are going to have any chance at closing the gap between them and first place, they will need to find a way to do better on the road, beginning with a four-game set against the Kansas City Royals that plays through the weekend.

The Tigers are four games below .500 heading into the series, but have an excellent chance at getting back to par if they can win this set against the worst team in the division. Kansas City hasn’t been able to hit the .500 mark at home or on the road, and will turn to another unproven youngster for the series opener on Thursday in 22-year old Danny Duffy. Duffy is 1-3 with a 5.09 ERA, and is coming off one of his worst outings of the year in which he allowed five earned runs in that many innings of work in a 9-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Detroit will counter with Max Scherzer, who will likely get to 10 wins on Thursday despite a 4.90 ERA.MLB Betting Pick: Detroit Tigers

Friday, 8:10 PM ETRick Porcello hasn’t been very good for the Tigers either this season, but like Scherzer he has gotten the run support that he needs to consistently hit in the sports betting win column. The 22-year old is 7-6 with a 4.96 ERA, yet will again be the favorite against Kyle Davies and his 7.77 ERA.

Detroit is so confident in its staff against the Royals that they will go with reliever Charlie Furbush on Saturday, as he throws against Luke Hochevar. If Kansas City is going to avoid the four-game sweep this sports betting bonus weekend it will most likely be in this game, but then again there is no reason to think that they won’t be overwhelmed once again by the Tigers’ offense.MLB Betting Pick: Detroit Tigers

The exclamation point in this series will be when All Star Justin Verlander gets to the mound to close out the final game before the midsummer classic with another solid start. The 28-year old has allowed just three earned runs through his past eight starts, and will get the easy nod over Royals’ starter Jeff Francis. Verlander is 11-4 and his 2.26 ERA ranks among the best in baseball, making it no surprise that he is heading to the 2011 All Star game.MLB Betting Pick: Detroit Tigers
