Twins vs Rangers odds - Twins, Rangers both have work to do as second half starts
Twins vs Rangers odds will be a matchup of two teams that are playing well but are just not quite where they need to be. Online betting handicappers know that the Rangers have overachieved this year - but still find themselves in second place in the AL West - while the Twins have their work cut out for them as they try to land first in the Central.

Glen Perkins, (4-5, 4.71) vs Vicente Padilla (7-4, 4.53)
Glen Perkins is getting over an illness, and after having his last start pushed back, he’ll get on the mound for the first time after the All-Star Break. The Twins vs Rangers odds should have a high total as Vicente Padilla takes the mound for the Rangers.
Padilla has had a rough time at home this season, going 3-3 with a 5.93 ERA at the Ballpark in Arlington and the disturbing part is the opposing teams are hitting .332 against him at home. On the road, opposing batters are only hitting .215. Perkins is 2-2 with a 5.61 ERA on the road, so expect the sportsbook to set this total high.

Scott Baker (7-7, 5.42) vs Scott Feldman (8-2, 3.83)
Through June, Twins vs Rangers betting handicappers saw Scott Baker become one of the better, more reliable pitchers in all of baseball. Through two starts in July, he’s been the opposite. Baker has given up 10 earned runs in 9.1 innings pitched in July while giving up 15 hits in those two starts. He’ll look to bounce back on Saturday against Scott Feldman.
It might surprise a lot of MLB betting handicappers to see that Feldman has eight wins on the year, but he is reliable at home and gets good run support. The Rangers have won his last four starts, scoring an average of 7.25 per outing.
MLB betting edge: Rangers

Francisco Liriano (4-9, 5.47) vs Tommy Hunter (1-1, 2.53)
Twins vs Rangers odds makers know that Francisco Liriano, the supposed Twins ace, had a rough start to the season, but now he’s coming around. His ERA in April was 6.04, then 7.12 in May, but he came back to reality at 3.77 in June. Liriano should be poised for a good second half and the Twins will need him if they plan to make a playoff run.
He’ll face-off with Rangers pitcher Tommy Hunter, who has made just four career starts. The 23-year-old pitcher has given up just three earned runs over his last 17.2 innings pitched. Even so, look for the Twins to take advantage of the young pitcher on Sunday.
