MLB Betting - White Sox vs Cubs Odds
If you’re sports betting online this year, you’ll notice that the White Sox and Cubs have been very disappointing so far. However, there’s nothing like a rivalry series to spark a season, and both teams will be looking for a match when the Cubs host the White Sox at Wrigley Field midweek. Baseball betting odds should favor the Cubs at home, but they’ll need to ride their pitching to a series win unless their anemic offense steps up.

John Danks (4-5, 4.81) vs Carlos Zambrano (4-2, 3.39)
Danks has lost his last two starts, and his offense isn’t giving him much help as the White Sox scored a single run in those two games. He’s only made one start against the Cubs in his career, which came last year when he allowed a run on five hits over six innings at Wrigley - but the White Sox lost 4-3. Zambrano is coming off his longest outing of the season, as he went eight strong innings in a 2-1 loss at Houston, scattering a run on three hits. The fiery right-hander has fared well against the White Sox in the past, going 5-2 in 11 games (nine starts), although he has an ERA of 4.45. Danks could face some abuse from the Cubs fans after stating that Wrigley Field smells like urine, and that could be a factor in how he pitches, while Zambrano is looking to get going at home, where he’s normally so effective.

Gavin Floyd (4-5, 4.94) vs Ryan Dempster (4-3, 3.87)
Floyd appears to be settling down after an awful start to the campaign, as he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in five consecutive outings. It could be the pressure of following a 17-win season, or it could be the fact that the entire team is performing below the expectations of sportsbook betting players, but we all know Floyd has the stuff to be a great starter. Dempster is in the same boat, trying to prove that 2008’s 17 wins were no fluke. He, like Zambrano, was also on the wrong end of a 2-1 loss in Houston, but he did his part by scattering a run on seven hits over seven innings. This will be Floyd’s introduction to this rivalry, while Dempster has a 1-2 mark in nine games (two starts), including three saves. This could be the lowest-scoring affair of the series, so check the posted total in your sportsbook. Give the nod to Dempster, who is 3-0 at Wrigley this year.

Jose Contreras (2-5, 5.32) vs Randy Wells (0-3, 2.55)
After losing his first five decisions and a trip to the minors, Contreras hasn’t allowed a run in his last 16 innings of work, giving up only three hits during that time. He’ll need to keep it up, though - he’s struggled against the Cubs, going 2-3 in six starts with a 6.08 ERA, and the Cubs have gone deep 10 times off the 37-year-old right-hander. Wells gave up a season-high four runs on seven hits in just 3.2 innings of a 7-4 loss at home to Minnesota, and this will be his first meeting with the White Sox. Wells has pitched well at home this year with a 3.24 ERA, but he’s still 0-2 at Wrigley in three starts. Give the betting edge to the veteran Contreras, who is still out to prove he is a legitimate No.3 or No.4 starter.
