Yankees Mets Betting – Bronx Bombers Strut Their Stuff In Queens
Sports betting players should get a great matchup this weekend as the latest edition of the “Subway Series” will be held at Citi Field when the New York Mets host their neighbors from the Bronx, the Yankees. The Yankees have fared well in Queens as of late, and they should come away with at least two victories over the weekend, even though the Mets are playing good baseball.

Friday, 7:10 PM ET – Ivan Nova (7-4, 4.26) vs. Jonathon Niese (7-6, 3.67)
The 24-year-old Nova has three wins and a no-decision in his last four starts, although he was taken deep three times in a 6-4 win over Colorado at home. He took a no-decision in his lone start against the Mets, which came in May at Yankee Stadium, and Nova is 3-2 in seven road games with a solid ERA of 3.31. Niese, who is also 24, will be making his first start against the Yankees, and he’s been solid at home with a 3-3 mark in eight starts at home with an ERA of 3.26.
Niese complained of a rapid heartbeat after leaving his last start and while the Mets say that it was only precautionary, it is something to watch. Nova has to watch his walks as he has issued three or more walks in four of his last six starts. Neither pitcher has been spectacular this season, but they’ve been getting great run support: Nova is third in the majors, while Niese is 19th. In the end, the betting edge should go to Nova, who at least has some familiarity with the Mets’ lineup. Another thing to take into account: the Yankees have won seven of their last 10 in Queens in this borough battle.
Betting Edge: New York Yankees
Saturday, 4:10 PM ET – Brian Gordon (0-1, 5.23), vs. Dillon Gee (8-1, 3.32)
Gordon hasn’t pitched since June 22nd, when he allowed four runs in five innings of a 10-2 loss in Cincinnati, and he will be making his first appearance against the Mets, as well as his first trip to Citi Field. Gee, who is seven years younger than the 32-year-old Gordon, bounced back from his first loss of the season with a good start in Texas, where he got the decision in an 8-5 victory, and he has never faced the Mets. However, he is 4-1 in eight games (six starts) at home with a 2.50 ERA in 2011.
Gordon is always fighting for his next start and he’ll likely be dropped to the bullpen when either Bartolo Colon or Phil Hughes returns to the rotation from the disabled list. Gee has been the beneficiary of some solid run support, and if the Mets can get out to a lead, he should be able to power the Mets to a win in your MLB betting picks.
Betting Edge: New York Mets
Sunday, 1:10 PM ET – Freddy Garcia (7-6, 3.28) vs. R.A. Dickey (4-7, 3.77)
In a meeting of two veterans that are having surprisingly good seasons, the MLB betting lines for this contest should be relatively close. The 35-year-old Garcia has won five of his last seven starts, allowing more than three runs just once during that time, and he is 1-2 in three starts against the Mets with a 2.61 ERA as he makes his first trip to Citi Field. The 36-year-old Dickey has pitched better than his record indicates, and even though he didn’t have his best stuff in Detroit, he got plenty of run support in a 14-3 romp in Detroit. The knuckleballer is 3-1 in eight games (two starts) against the Yankees with an ERA of 2.39, but he’s been inconsistent at home, going 1-5 in eight starts with a 4.18 ERA.
Meanwhile, Garcia is 2-2 in six games (five starts) on the road with a 2.83 ERA, which is lower than his home ERA, so the Yankees will get the edge in the finale of the “Subway Series”. You never know how a knuckleballer’s stuff is going to be on any given day, so they’re tough to back in your online betting choices.
