Rangers vs Mariners Odds - Surprising Mariners will head into break with momentum
Sportsbooks didn’t give Seattle much of a chance to challenge in the AL West, but they’re within shouting distance of Los Angeles and Texas thanks to a shutdown pitching staff. The Mariners host the Rangers for four games at Safeco Field starting on Thursday, and it’s the pitching staff that will lead them to a big divisional series win.

Tommy Hunter (1-1, 3.18) vs Felix Hernandez (8-3, 2.62)
Hunter is making the fourth start of his first full big-league season, and he earned his first win by allowing a run on three hits over 5.1 innings of a 3-1 victory over Tampa Bay. However, he’ll face Hernandez, who is making his first All-Star appearance, and is the ace of the staff in the AL with the lowest ERA. The 23-year-old righthander hasn’t lost since May 19, going 4-0 in eight starts. He tossed seven shutout innings of four-hit ball in a 3-2 loss in Texas on May 14, taking his career ERA to 4.35 against the Rangers in 18 starts, to go with a 4-9 record. With a rookie on the other side of the field, the Mariners are a -182 favorite in your offshore sportsbook tonight.

Scott Feldman (7-2, 3.91) vs Brandon Morrow (0-3, 5.05)
Feldman has been doing extremely well in his second full year as a starter, and a 5-2 victory over the Rays was his second consecutive win, scattering a pair of runs (one earned) on three hits over six innings. The 26-year-old righty has met the Rangers 12 times in his career, including three starts, and he has yet to earn a decision, but his 2.30 ERA is solid enough.
Morrow has been moved to the rotation, and his last two starts have come on the road against the Red Sox and Yankees. The 24-year-old righthander held his own though, giving up six runs (four earned) on 11 hits in 10.2 innings, although he was taken deep three times against Boston. Morrow has a disappointing 1-3 record and a 3.95 ERA in 12 relief appearances against the Rangers, and his inexperience as a starter may sway some to avoid Seattle as one of their online betting picks.
Baseball betting pick: Rangers
Saturday, July 10, 10:10 PM ET
Kevin Millwood (8-6, 3.34) vs Jerrod Washburn (5-6. 3.08)
Millwood, who is second in the AL in innings, was rocked for nine runs over five innings in a 9-4 loss to the Angels, his second loss in four starts. It may not be the smartest thing to have a 34-year-old, but he’s been forced to because of injuries and a green rotation. While he earned a no-decision on May 4th, Millwood didn’t pitch very well, and he has an 8-9 record in 19 starts against the Mariners.
Washburn is coming off arguably the best start of his career, as he tossed a complete-game one-hitter in a 5-0 shutout of Baltimore, with three strikeouts and no walks. This could spark him to pitch better against the Rangers than he did on May 13th, when he took a no-decision in a 6-5 loss. In 30 appearances (27 starts), Washburn is 8-8 with a 4.35 ERA, but at home, you have to give the online betting edge to him.
Baseball betting pick: Mariners
Sunday, July 11, 4:10 PM ET
Dustin Nippert (0-0, 7.36) vs Erik Bedard (5-2, 2.58)
Nippert gave up three runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings in his first start of the year after a back injury sidelined him for the beginning of the campaign. The 28-year-old righthander has made two starts against the Mariners, winning one with an excellent ERA of 1.59. Bedard is also coming off the disabled list, and he gave up a pair of runs in four innings in his first start back, a taking a no-decision in a 12-4 loss to his former team, Baltimore. The 30-year-old southpaw is 4-2 in 10 career outings against the Rangers with a 3.12 ERA, and when he’s healthy, he’s capable of contending for the Cy Young award, which is a good thing for Seattle’s sports betting odds.
Baseball betting pick: Mariners
