Red Sox vs Blue Jays odds - why the Jays will get their revenge at home against Boston
Online sports book players have seen Toronto go into an amazing slump after their explosive start to the season, with said slump beginning when the Blue Jays began a road trip in Boston. Now they’ll return to the Rogers Center on Friday when they take on the Red Sox for a three-game series, and revenge is on the menu.
MLB odds: Toronto seeking to end slump with wins over Boston
- Sox’s Tim Wakefield won’t have the confidence in the Big Smoke
- Expect low scoring in game 2 on Saturday
- Ricky Romero fantastic at home for the Jays
Tim Wakefield (6-2, 3.99) vs Scott Richmond (4-2, 3.63)
Friday, May 29, 7:07 PM ET
The Blue Jays had no answer for Wakefield’s knuckleball in last week’s 2-1 loss at Fenway Park, bumping his record to 17-11 against the Jays. Wakefield is 6-4 at Rogers Center, but a 4.33 ERA shows that Toronto can get to him. Richmond has allowed two runs in his last 12.0 innings of work, which gave him two no-decisions. Richmond met the Red Sox once last year, pitching well in a 3-0 loss at home, and he has far more confidence due to a solid start to the season. Look for the Jays to jump on Wakefield early and often.
Sports betting - Red Sox vs Blue Jays odds pick: Toronto
Brad Penny (5-1, 5.96) vs Brian Tallet (2-3, 4.31)
Saturday, May 30, 1:07 PM ET
Penny improved his perfect record against Toronto to 3-0 in an 8-3 win, and he’s settled down after a rough start. Two of those wins have come at the Rogers Center, where he has a sparkling 1.42 ERA. Tallet was on the losing end against Wakefield last week, but he did enough to win as he allowed three runs or less for the fourth straight outing. This should be a low-scoring affair, so take a look at the posted total.
Sports betting - Red Sox vs Blue Jays odds pick: Boston
Jon Lester (3-5, 6.07) vs Ricky Romero (2-1, 6.07)
Sunday, 1:07 PM ET
Lester has allowed at least five runs in three of his last four starts, but his one quality outing came against the Blue Jays in a 5-1 win. However, he’s struggled at the Rogers Center, losing both of his career starts with a 7.31 ERA and with his current troubles on the road, this is probably the last place he needs to be. Romero returned to the lineup after missing a month due to injury, and he was cruising along until a bad fifth inning. This is his first career start against the Red Sox, and so far he’s been stellar at home, going 2-0 with a 1.39 ERA.
